Shifu YanLei: 1. Do Shaolin monks train seven days a week? 2. In percentage Internal Energy (No thinking, Breathing, Qi gong etc. percentage too?) over external energy?3. How do Shaolin Monks gain muscles, when modern science says that we need resting periods to grow muscles, but the monks train every day? Thanks.

i can semi answer your third question, please note i am not an expert, but from my knowledge and personal experiences, you don't exactly need rest days you just can't hit every muscle everyday, if you are trying to gain muscle other than abs/core from my countless hours of research it seems like you can train abs/core everyday without having a high risk for injury, But i am sure they have rest days as in stretching, breathing exercises, and possibly cardio, probably other things as well, BUT i could be wrong about that sense i am not very knowledgeable in Shaolin (only been learning for a couple of weeks now), you also have a good diet and plenty of water (although from my time in the military eating MRE's, pizza, and other not so healthy food and more than a life time of energy drinks you can outwork your bad diet it's just EXTREMELY hard to) also with your third question you kind a answered your first question unless it was only meant if the monks do train 7 days a week

The key term you're looking for is 'conditioning'. Shifu is able to perform a maintenance routine and blend it with core exercise and training because that's the way we grow up in China. The daily flow is very different. If you aren't used to this training style and lack the condition, then '7 days a week' there is a reasonable chance that it will leave you with horrible injuries. All of Shaolin is external, they train a metamorphosis that capitalizes on powerful physical movement. The internal arts are almost completely devoid of it comparatively. It's hard Qigong that he works into his system there is no separation from his art at all. Monks gain muscle the same as any other animal - healing microtears from daily loading. When you are correctly conditioned you can perform light exercise drills in the interim instead of full rest that will also allow you to recover as he does. In that case it keeps you from seizing and is correct to ensure much better nutrient flow. A person without that initial fitness level will struggle, depending on age too will need to take clear days off per week. To start 3-4 training days is adequate. The rest you should use for recovery and recreation. If you must do something on recovery day try to swim. It will alleviate excess joint strain present in a poorly conditioned person. Don't think that you can take up the schedule of an athlete over night, you can't. Although I am from the Daoist school and we are completely internal - we also train every day. But I've done so since I was 6 years old. Give yourself plenty of time to get used to something new. Factors such as diet and breath, which move to muscle - are not quick changes that you can make.
