This is the one I have been waiting for! Some people say that leg grip takedowns are invincible skills but there are ways to defence and counterattacks. Thank you for greats videos Mr. Higashi, I watch your videos everyday! Huge respect from South Korea.

That's why I hate that judo took those leg attacks away. Judo contains plenty of techniques to counter it and make it fair game.

@@cesaralvesdemoraes3187 I hope one day IJF permit awesome leg grips so that Judokas can play like Sambo or Freestyle Wrestlilng players.

@@jeeprubicon392kmI've read that's why they were removed in order to keep the sport of Judo unique
@jeeprubicon392km8 ай бұрын
@@gyrox0031 I heard that Olympic does not allow sports that look similar. Like old Judo with leg gripping and Freestyle Wrestling are similar so they banned leg gripping in Judo. I might wrong but this is what I heard.

Leg grabs were never that good in gi. They were removed because it led to stalling and made Judo less aesthetic and distinct.

Great lesson, thanks for sharing. You can also reach across with the captured leg and have a nice osoto gari. It's very unexpected.

Awesome! Can you do a Double Leg Counter video?

Fantastic video! It's so helpful that you take the time to point out the key ideas and distinctions between scenarios rather than just giving a laundry list of techniques

My favorite counter is sumi gaeshi. They never see it coming. But I promise you, they gonna be KZbin-ing "single leg avoid sumi gaeshi" the moment they get home.

I use this uchi mata as my defence so frequently and its such a high percentage move. Do reccomend. Also, tomoe nage for double leg defence.

Yes. You’re just making grip on his body

2:25 like here. You’d switch. Maybe opt for his triceps, and lat.

Yes for the Uchi-Mata you need a tight over hook and a grip on the wrist or back of the elbow.

Inside and outside single leg. A high croch is a different technique. It's more like a setup.
