The third tip was the most important for me. I usually would miss sode or seoi, bc people would step backwards as soon as I pull on the sleeve.

You can go by the elbow (lateral or better down side) (it's the original sode by the way) You can watch "Jacque Seguin Sode 4 techniques" and the special demonstration of "Alexander Iddir sode"

Video request: Hey, I'm thinking of starting Judo once lockdown ends. I'd like to start training/conditioning now. A video on recommended exercises for the 2-3 months before starting Judo would cool.

I appreciate this. As a lefty I sometimes end up in a right grip just because I'm still new, and this is an easier way to hit a hip throw from my weak side. Thanks so much!

Can you make a LxR sode video, you as the L, just like in this video? In that case what would be better, inside or outside position of my tsurite? And can i do kataguruma/kataotoshi in case I realize its easier to push his left arm down instead of up?

Sode means sleeve

You would need a really strong grip, and grab your opponent completely off guard at their wrists, I tried it with my brother, but if the opponent start throwing punches is really hard to accomplish it, that's why you need to take him/her off guard.
@sabyasachikulavi89463 жыл бұрын
Its almost impossible to do a no gi sode grip. Either the grip slips or there is a big chance of breaking uke's wrist.

i see that a lot with a stiff arm above the opponents head instead auf crossing forearms as you do. is this the same throw?

Question about sode? Is the kihon version supposed to be a double or single sleeve grab? (or does it matter) I ask because my Sensei teaches it from a double sleeve grab

I commented here the other day, I guess you didn't see, so, here it goes: in bjj, it's way harder to throw down because after it the fight continues so, both guys start the fight head to head bended (buttons back), if one of those stands instead of bending, the other one pulls for the guard, half guard or single leg, and it's very hard to get close enough to throw, what's your suggestion to break that posture without getting exposed to the guard, half guard, single leg?
