It Simply snaps in to place on your spool
(A small amount of tape is added to the inner face that touchs the spool to aid grip when fitted)
This has been tested using 0.35mm main line and a brand of line that has 250m markers and it hits the spot every time just below the lip giving you perfect fitment.
It has all so been tested using a double tapered main line @ 0.33mm - 0.50mm and it fits perfectly with out being over spooled.
Reels tested - Ultegra CI4 14000 / XTD 14000 / XTE 14000
If your 14000 shimano big pit reel comes with the standard 10000/6000/3500 spool reducers then this will fit no problem.
If you had to put a number on this reducer it would be arround 7500/8000

Even with the reducer it still holds WAY too much line. If you can have your best cast at 150 meters, then the reel should hold 200 meters. Most of that line you'll never use and will just be wasted when it's replaced.

How do you take the spool reducer off once fitted

There is a recess on either side of the spool reducer.. this allows you to place a flat head screw driver or something similar in to the cut out to pop it open by twisting the tool used

I have the Shimano ultegra XTE 14000 reels and if i use the spool reducers and spool up with GTHD 15lb line @.35mm and the bulk spools hold 1030m of line ,, how many reel spools can i expect to get out of the bulk spool .. hope this makes sense

0.35 mainline 1030m = 4 spools

No they are not available for the 5500 version but I could certainly look into it!!
