Holy cow, this is much easier to understand than videos from “professionals” like park tool and gcn stuff, they always try to make videos complicated and don’t help at all. Thank you!

There is actualy no need to take them out. I just did it because nasty rust remover and degreaser.

Just a little tip for next time, you don't need to remove the crank arm pinch bolts fully, just loosen them until no tension is on them. ;)
@akosszollosi61592 жыл бұрын
In that case you need to lift/rotate out the thin plastic bit which has a tiny pin on it that engages in a hole on the crankshaft.

I also remove the seals and clean / add grease rather than replace at least once or twice. Because there is usually not enough grease inside. But you have to be careful removing the seals as you can damage them. I have not been able to get replacement seals, which would be really helpful. Then I just use the ParkTool hammer tool to remove the bearings and replace with new ones. If I take the entire bearing out I would just replace the entire bearing as hammering them out can damage them. With your tool you can remove and then reinstall, must get one. I will look for the SKF ball bearing grease in future, good tip, I assume it is better than regular say Shimano grease at least for bearings. If you ride in the wet a lot, Morgan Blue Aquapaste is good, on the outside of the seals

You are correct about seals, they are made from soft metal and rubber and you can bend them, but also you can easily bend them back. However no need to beel too carefull about plastic cups/sleeves - plastic is quite tough

I tried to lubricate my BB-72 pressfit bearings but I could not take the inner seal out. I think Shimano made it realy disassemble proof :)

What if that plastic cover for me is broken? It broke on its own, and left pedal feels loose, but bearings inside still look good.
@ebi31412 ай бұрын
You need to massage the grease in to the bearing with your thumb. It wont get past the cage by just squirting it on the top.

First of all Shimano Hollowtech II cranks have a 24mm spindle , 25 mm is Campagnolo. Secondly Shimano bearings are 24x37x7 for the Hollowtech II series cranksets. Campagnolo Power Torque series use 25x37x7 commonly known as 6805 and the Ultra Torque series 25x37x6 6805 N(arrow).

are u sure that the bearing size is really 25x37x6? I was looking for new ones and found some enduro and "noname" brand ones, NTN SKF etc. are only having 25x37x7 bearings. I am wondering if these will fit aswell although they are 1 mm thicker
@SuperBodul2 жыл бұрын
Yes, shimano uses custom 6mm by Sunhill - thats what makes it harder to replace, standard size is 7mm. Look my other video on my channel, i replaced mine with 7mm FAG but then you have some things to sort out
