It says on the website, "If riding in inclement weather, full seals are recommended". it's a no cost option and plenty of people do specify this when they buy them. Ball bearings positionned one to the other inside one piece (the blue shell) which is mounted on the bike. This is the only solution to get a very smooth cranckset with threaded frames. It is square tapper and JIS cranckshafts but better because of wider bearings with T47. This architecture would also work with non threaded frames. One piece to hold and align bearings, inserted in the frame until a shoulder and on the other side a nut to keep it in place. Like a big hollow screw. From my point of view the gold one showed here is not a solution because there is still two independant piece holding each bearing. Also the centering at the center create a situation of hyperstatism when the assembly is mounted into the frame.

I went through three bearing sets on a Hambini BB. I bought it when he started selling them so saved quite a bit versus what they cost now. Best luck I had was with some LLU Timken bearings in the Hambini BB...but water still gets to the bearings with the design. Not riding in rain is impossible during the summer here in Florida. Hambini BB went with the old bike. I'm trying a Mortop BSA on my new bike right now with angle contact bearings and quite like it even though it's no less waterproof... I think angular contact bearings may be the way to go for longevity..

Oh man. I thought Florida was the dream sunshine. You should try some stainless steal bearings or the Enduro XD15. They are best for corrosion resistance if that’s the first cause of failure for you. @@Mapdec Luckily it's not the kind of all-day drear you guys get. The joke is we only have to wait 30 minutes and it's back to sunshine, but you can almost guarantee a shower in the afternoon during late summer. Great content. But there does appear to be an undertone of passive aggressive Hambini bashing of late. I thought you used to be friends. Has something happened?
@Mapdec5 ай бұрын
Not bashing. I’m as fair to him as any brand. His one piece BB designs solve problems that only his, Bb infinite and Sn-vite, do. His range is beautifully machined and accurate, but doesn’t offer any solution to weather proofing. Hambini is only really the best solution to 2 problems. For all the other problems there are better options.

Meh. Garbage… is a strong word. Offering marginal improvement in one factor at the possible sacrifice of performance of another factor for the cost is probably more accurate. With education you can make that choice. If you need a tiny marginal gain in friction, it might be worth it. 🤷♂️. It’s not something that bothers me, but I’m not competing to win a grand tour.

This kind of stuff is why prices are so high on bikes! And then you say prices are to…high? Here’s a tip ! If you, us ! Would only wish to pay $50.dollars for a bottom bracket! I bet there would be plenty good bottom brackets for $50. Screw that! We have guys that will pay$200. Are you connected to UAE ? Companies should not be trying to get your last dollar! It used to be a certain matter of reality that people have other things to do in life ! And priorities form a line in that order. So we make products that People can afford That will do most of the heavy lifting for what they could possibly afford? If you could afford to pay more…don’t! This is not a arms race! Reliability is worth everything! Peace of mind, ? Everything is nice when new ! Most of these brands won’t be around as long their products ? This is a disposable society! No fixing stuff just buy another one? You have already been snookered in electronic and mechanical ! If you can” fix “ electronic stuff ! Very good for you…I can also ! And the replacement parts…if ? Cost more than the original part. Mechanical is doable! It can be repaired to a certain degree, and function . Every part you buy now has to have its own tool ? And we think this is cool? I remember when phones were attached to things…not people! Cartridge bearings sealed are a good thing! And can be replaced multiple times, and give you that new bike feel ! And you have reliability and peace of mind for a lot less than $400. You could do all the bearings on your bike for the next couple of years! That’s why you can still rebuild or repair some vintage campy parts ? Try to get a motor for your rear mech? Or they change the OS ? And as stated product support will be less than five years? Don’t devalue your money! Make them earn it !

I guess every product cost is relative. Isn’t cycling great. It’s a sport where a skilled and well trained rider on a small budget can compete with mega buck bikes.

If I were customer I would not be happy about ceramic bearings....
@Mapdec5 ай бұрын
Why? The corrode just as quickly as a normal Chromium Steal bearing for sure, but until that point they do offer less frictional losses if that is important to you. They are a better choice for riders in hot dusty climates. Ceramic bearings have a place, for some people in some conditions.
