I have two of the smaller series of the symetre I absolutely love them! I used to get cheap spinning reels but not after using this reel I can't go back to sub par spinning reels now. And I never get bad line twist. Great video.

I loved my symetre. Great reel. Then I picked up a penn spinfisher v 3500. And never looked back and sold the symetre!

Let me ask you, do you find with the new symetre and its compact body that the bail hits your knuckles while reeling? I bought a couple more and have to move by hand around sometimes to keep it from doing so

I have personally never had this problem and i also dont clinch my hand tight i like to have a soft grip. But i have heard of alot of guys having this issue.. I think its more about hand placement. Because the distance is not much on any spinning reel i have been using wether its a daiwa quantum or shimano

I orded a sahara from bass pro and there was a scratch right on the place where you said it is crucial for it to have no scratches. Bass pro shops is kinda annoying and I asked the guy one time where the reel cleaning products are, he gave me a tub of used penn real grease and charged me full price.

I only realised when I got home and my mom didn't want to drive all the way back so i just deal with it. Its not to big to actually cut the line though.

they are if the line isnt spooling on the reel evenly, this only happens very rarely but if it does you add one of those under the spool

I have use the Cals but when the reel gets wet the drag starts to jump as you describe in the vid. Don't know if all greases do this when wet or not. Thanks.

Funny You asked. I have never had that prob. But heres a tip. Move your hand up 1 finger or 2 till it stops

This reel is sexy and smooth but does not perform in any type of rain. As soon as the reel gets any type of moisture it will begin to bind up. If you never fish in the rain it's great, but if you're a diehard and don't let a little wet weather stop you find another reel.

Dan Bornmann Oh man that stinks I have not seen that problem yet. Easy fix tho. Just break the reel down and grease all the edges of every entire point on the reel casing.

Ahhhh, I wish I knew that. I have a Sedona and a Saros where neither would have that issue while I would be out. I traded towards another Saros hoping to never see that issue again. These reels feel identical to each other.

I know this is an older video but just wanted to comment how bad this reel has been for me. It always sticks while reeling and I've had it professionally cleaned twice by a certified Shimano dealer. It's being shipped now to Irvine CA. Shimano told me over the phone if they cant fis it they will send me a new one. Like I actually want a new reel that will fail again like the previous. I've been doing research on this reel and apparently it's a very common occurrence. There is a design flaw that Shimamo didn't want to address and kept making them without fixing the problem. Most problematic reel I've ever purchased. Worst $100 loss in a fishing reel, I have Shakespeare reels last longer without problems.
