Shimano Tourney RD-FT55 derailleur installation

Oh my gosh. Have a cheapo mountain bike I took apart 6 months ago and have been cleaning and replacing a lot of the hardware on it. Been putting it back together and for the life of me could not figure out how to install a new derailleur hanger. All the videos online have fancy hanger hard points to be bolted directly to. So glad I found your video! Couldn't figure out where that funky shaped nut attached to. It goes into the cutout! Thank you so much!

Probably someone who is looking for how to put a shimono rd-tz31 rear derailleur back on their bike but can't find a single video that has this specific model which is becoming increasingly frustrating because I haven't been able to ride in months and no one wants to help me.

Thank you for this video. Wouldn't the axle of the wheel been mount skew / crooked cause of the shorter ends of the frame? shortend by the Rear Derailleur mount.

Axle end fits right under the frame spars only, the extra thickness of the hanger is clamped to the axle ends by the QR lever. Nothing is crooked.

@@theoverengineer Hi. At 5:19 you can see what I mean. The space where the bolt from the derailleur sits, can't claimed by the axle. Without the derailleur, the axle will sitz deeper. The slot where the axle and the derailleur bolt is, is shortend by the derailleur bolt. You can see the shorter slot at 6:14.

I bought a used Huffy with this derailed and took the bike apart to paint. While, apart the parts got shifted around and the order got screwed up. THIS makes it all better.

You may need different version of shimano unit since you can't simply use a hanger one for a bolt on type. Hanger types becoming rarer.

@@theoverengineer Mangled in spokes and snapped into 2. I just threw it out. Pickup truck saw me fall over and gave me a ride, with bike in back. That was lucky.
