Thanks for the review, the magnet is an option to use. Use it when you're doing long hauls with significant weight and need the extra stability. Otherwise tuck it in to belt sleeve. Enjoy. Regards Ian

Hey! Cool, good to know from your end that I'm not losing much by forgetting to reattach. I haven't expressly noticed a difference when it's attached or not, but would have to a/b test to properly determine that I guess; I definitely make sure it is done up for longer hikes! The main critique was just that it gets in the way a bit opening the panel, but that's just a design 'quirk' to get used to I suppose. Overall great bag! Cheers :)

Great video. For multi-day hikes, can you pack your tent and sleeping bag in the Action x70, or do you carry them separately?

Thanks! I've since changed to a different bag (Durston Kakwa 55), but 70L definitely had enough space for my tent and sleeping bag inside - in fact as I got lighter and smaller gear it was probably too big. Obviously depends on what gear you have as some is more bulky than others. I try to put everything on the inside of the bag for multi-day hikes so it can be in dry bags or a bag liner, except for rain gear/tripod so that its easily accessible. Hope that helps :)

Hi, I just wondering if you recognise the weight of the actual bag without anything in it?
@MurrayLivingston Жыл бұрын
Hi - should be right around 2300g if I'm looking at the right figure from my spreadsheets! The two small inserts I use are an additional 480g.

Did You ever had a problem on the airport?
@MurrayLivingston Жыл бұрын
Hey thomas, once or twice I have had it looked at, but I always managed to get it on board - I explain that I have expensive camera gear & lots of lithium batteries that can't be checked in. Will depend on airlines size restrictions and definitely have to take the hip belt off and not load it full of gear to reduce weight. If you are worried, they make smaller sizes too which I know friends travel with regularly (35L/50L). Hope that helps. :) Cheers

@@MurrayLivingston im currently have Peak design 45l traveler and Manfrotto 320 Bumblebee that can fit my new 400mm f2.8. Unfortunately they arent Perfect. Both fits this lens. Peakdesign can expand and can carry other personal stuff but it goes without cube for the lens and the belt isnt comfort able for long hikes. On the other hand Manfrotto is more comfortable but its limited to carry other stuff. Shimoda x70 could be a Perfect solution but is 3/4cm longer that carry on limits. X50 can have only cubes with 15,5cm hight so this can be a problem for the 400mm

Right, I've not needed to travel with a lens that big before. Might be worth looking at some of the wildlife photographers on the platform and see how they travel with their gear: Morten Hilmer, Steve Perry and Steve Mattheis come to mind. Congrats on the beast, hope it serves you well!
