I am very interested in SHIMODA's new bag, Urban Explorer 30L. For me, one of the important features of a bag is the ability to stand on one's own. I don't know if I can stand alone by it self or not. Due to the shape of the bottom, it seems uneasy standing alone. :(

That's the reason I backed the Everyday Camera Backpack from PMxNomatic. That 25L for sure stands upright. I am not 100% sure if this Urban Explore does, but it seems like it does.

I enjoyed your launch reaction. However, the Luma looks underwhelming comparatively. Not to mention that Shimoda bags are second to none in the comfort category - never seen a bad review in that regard. The review further confirms why I'm sticking with my Shimoda Urban Explore kickstarter order.

Yeah, I really would have gotten the Shimoda they release this trailer theirs earlier. I was really looking forward to sub 20L backpack. This Urban Explore would have been great! But, alas, I was already committed to Luma! The only saving grace is Luma is slightly smaller, and that was what I was looking for.

@@elJong Understandable, if capacity is the primary concern. It's worth noting that Kickstarter pledges can be canceled through your pledge link as long as the project is "live." Either way, enjoy your new bag!

I had backed the Luma - when the Shimoda came onto Kickstarter I cancelled my backing of the Luma and have backed the Shimoda 25L.

Trying to decide between the 20 and 25 but I’ll also have a little overlap

I figured the 20L will be more of a 'real' every day carry, and the 25L will be for more serious trips. I already have the PM X Nomatic Everyday Backpack and that's exactly 25L so Shimod's 20L is the only one I am really looking at for the future.

@@elJong since it also doesn’t have a hip belt I probably won’t carry every lens I own and my larger 25 or 30l will be there if I need to. I also have the wandrd prvke lite and the 20L is buggier than that which sometimes is just too tight. Also, watching reviews you can fit a lot in the 20L when your lenses are unmounted. Ok…. I’ve finally confirmed my decision on the 20l! What are your thoughts on the BOA colorway. All my big bags are black so I thought it might be nice to have a different color.

@@ECDPhotography sound decision! You won't go wrong with Shimoda. And I'm quite digging this tan color. If I were to get this, I'll get the tan. It's a nice balance of outdoor but elegant. And since all my bags are black, a little uniqueness is needed!

The laptop sleeve on the front end rather at the back bothers me. It seems the laptop is more in danger to get damaged and it distributes the weight more away from the body. That’s why this backpack is a no for me.

That's a very good note! I actually don't mind the laptop in the front because I don't want the back part to be thicker when opening and closing. I figured If I am going on a real extreme adventure, the laptop stays at the Air B&B or the hotel!

Yes! That is Todd Dominey in the backgroud. I had a playlist of influencers who got the bag for free to review. I actually reached out to Shimoda if I could as well, they said it was 'impossible'. I guess just for me :D

All that I will say is that as someone who owns the Shimoda Explore V2 35L bag. This new 25L Urban Explore bag seems to be filling a hole in the gear that I own. It's small, sleek, and fits most of the features I am looking for and is from a brand I trust 100%. Where as the PM Luma collection? Dont get me wrong, I've only heard amazing things about the build quality of their products. I just really do not like the boxy and angular design of the luma collection. It's ugly. Just blatantly really really ugly. Not a fan imo.

I actually prefer the 25L 'boxy' PMxNomatic since it stands up on its own, but you are 100% right, the Shimoda Urban Explore is leaps and bound way more beautiful in terms of looks. I really wish I backed this instead, but maybe there will be an opportunity to update next year!
