So sorry about your difficulties after surgery - had mine done at Kings College in London -had about an 8 inch scar with metal clips - the pain was indescribable as you say - twenty five years on still remember it ! Hope you get better and some relief 🙏❤️

I had an anterior foraminotomy 20 years ago. The surgeon admitted that he slipped with the rongeur,which is the instrument that grinds the bone spur down. I was in horrible pain for 2 months, but eventually got better. Then, 10 years ago, I had the full ACDF with hardware. That recovery was much easier, and allevaited pain. But now, ten years later, it turns out that small areas of spurring that could not be reached during either surgery are pressing on nerves at C6 and C7. So I'm having a posterior foraminotomy soon. Third time is a charm. I hope you get through the pain, it sounds like your surgeon hit nerve tissue with the bone tool.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're still in pain. How long were you in pain before the surgery?

Is this surgery more painful than ACDF surgery?
@joec955321 күн бұрын
I've had two ACDF surgeries and posterior surgery in-between, and the posterior recovery was much longer. Currently, I'm fused from C4-7.

@@joec9553 thanks for sharing that. I have adjacent segment disease after having ACDF surgery and my surgeon said a foraminomy will remove the bone spurs and pressure on my nerves but I'm afraid it will cause more issues and long term pain.

Last surgery was 2015, so I'm grinding above the surgeries. Another ACDF surgery has been discussed for c3/4 but the risks were more than reward. My problem is....I had dove into a pool and head my head in 1982 without symptoms. In 2005 doctor said, you have a broken neck....😂

@@joec9553 oh geez. So you had a broken neck all that time and never knew?
@joec955318 күн бұрын
@@peteben9635 yes. pool hopping in Pompano Beach as a HS senior. All of my vertebrae were fracture and every disc were ruptured. My disc have been damaged since the accident with decaying disc fluid at c3/4 pressing on my spinal cord. I was dumb, fat and happy for 23 years. It's daily struggle but it could have been some much worse.

I’m having it done at L5, what are my chances of success ?

Please ask your Doctor. Every person and situation is individual. In general, the success rates are good, as long as everyone has realistic expectations.
