oct91988 All of the non Persona and Devil Summoner games are set during or after an Apocalypse of some kind. Only 3 that we get to see shit go to hell are this and the two Devil Survivor games. I'm still hoping eventually Atlus will remake the old games with modern SMT mechanics but I'm worried they won't since 4 is a reimagineing of the first game -_-

I've already downloaded this video and created an excerpt of you saying with a big smile and glee "IT'S SEPTEMBER 11th!!" Who the heck decided that 20% of the screen is the best way to experience the game? however to their credit I love the "controller" is has a very cool design that's reminiscent of the menu's in Persona 5. Okay 1 Thor pun was okay but that second one was uncalled for... (seriously I am low-key upset about this.) Okay awesome episode dude I like seeing games origins!

Yeah, you can play the game horizontally, but I would personally argue that the horizontal one is WAY worse, and would have actually made the video worse too. The Gameboy-esque style of vertical mode isn't that bothersome when actually playing, and as you see, all I had to do was zoom the video in some and (I think) it looked fine. Horizontal mode though, yeah, the game fills up a lot more of the screen, but that means the buttons have to overlay the game somewhat, and since all the buttons change color to indicate that you're pushing them...trust me, the video would've been worse off for it. Even when playing on my own I find horizontal mode more frustrating. I'm glad you liked the video, dude. I was super excited for this one, and I've wanted to do it for a long time now.

Idk I've always seen the alignments as, Chaos: complete and unrestricted freedom, which naturally leads to the strong in charge. Law: absolute control, which naturally leads to those who stray being eliminated. Then neutral: being freedom within limitations.

I think I've said this before, but DemiKids Light was my first MegaTen game, so I will no doubt do a video on that/those one day. And yeah, the iOS one is pretty decent. I'd even argue in some ways it's one of the best versions.

Most of the smt titles use the same tropes and mechanics but I think Nocturne made the most changes. I think what really makes Nocturne feel like a remake is that they abandoned the original timeline and start fresh while smt2 continued from smt1.

Yeah, pretty much every SMT Protagonist (With 2 exceptions.) when they win basically just have Pyrrhic Victories the only differences being to what extent. There are only 2 exceptions which i would say if it wasn't a spoiler by the fact i say it. ........Also i want those weird Fire Emblem SMT games remade and brought over, what was it, Shin Megami Majin or something? The ones that played kinda like Fire Emblem, but with Demons and demon negotiation.

Majin Tensei. Yeah, I was kinda hoping after everyone's "WTF" reaction to TMS#FE that Atlus would try reviving the Majin Tensei series, but doesn't seem to be the case. I guess when you're the series that has what many people consider the worst, ugliest MegaTen game ever you're not in a rush to reboot it.

Actually Magnetite isn't a problem in the original Shin Megami Tensei. I played through the SNES fan-patched version on my N3DS and eventually learned you can negotiate with demons to easily get enough Magnetite to suit your needs. You still need to keep an eye on it occasionally, though. Game is even easier when you realize there's a glitch that lets you get one of the most powerful swords in the game from one of the chapels (chaos chapel, I believe). That same glitch can be used to build up your money through other vendors, because it works on anyone who sells items. So even if you find games like this hard or tedious, you can at least rest assured there are ways to cheese through it if you really want to play it. I played pretty fairly for a while with the only "cheat" I used being the save state function, but after a certain point I had saved myself into a corner and barely got past a powerful boss. Then I decided to look up some help online to make the rest of the game go smoother and discovered the glitch. Very useful.

I love the original 2 games (haven't tried _if_ yet), I really really wish they localized the second one. The SNES version is really annoying to play in emulator (not to mention the only way to play it is with a fan translation) and while japan got a mobile version they never released it over here. Can't ATLUS see that we want to pay money for this!? They also need to put the iOS port of SMT1 on android. edit: typos

In the SNES version you gotta fight the Law and Chaos side 1 boss at a time or else you'd have your alignment shifted. A real pain in the ass considering the number of times you have to traverse through those dark rooms.

Yeah, if you're playing the Aeon Genesis translation, that's from the original SNES version, while the iOS version is based on the GBA remake from the early 2000s.

the iOS version (which sadly is no longer playable if you have iOS 11 or above) is based on the GBA remake and not the SNES version, so the graphics are a little bit better and it has a couple of extra touches.

It's still there when I search for it, but I'm also aware that if your phone is running iOS 11 or higher that the game can no longer be played anyway, so it's possible that if people have updated their phone the app store doesn't let them download an app that they can't play.

Yes, but landscape mode is much worse and would have made the video look terrible because the buttons overlay with the screen and flash brightly every time you push them. Do you think this video would have been better with the A button constantly flashing throughout the footage? I honestly prefer the "Gameboy" style mode of play. I actually did have a cut bit from this episode where I discussed this, but figured it wasn't needed.

I tried to play this game but coming off of Strange Journey where combat and exploration were difficult in a fun way, SMT 1 offered nothing. It had a really cool tone, setting and music but everything relating to the gameplay is just so plain and boring, it just isn't interesting to play. I got to the Law Hero's reincarnation and then read that I'd basically doomed myself down one of the paths and just gave up. Cool video though, nice to see where it all lead. I always love seeing my bro Louis
