As someone who owns both versions of the game in physical form i can say that even if you have played smt 5 before vengence changes the game so much that i consider it to be a new game entirely Sure the combat is still the same and many areas are as well but the changes are enough to create a whole new experience This is more akin to doom 2 compared to the original doom then doom eternal vs 2016 but still the changes make everything way better

i would argue the exact opposite. area 1 is basically completely unchanged, area 2 is barley any different, area 3 is the one thing they changed, and area 4 is about as new as area 2. the plot is different, kinda, but its built on the back of smt5, and expects you to have played the original to understand this new story. its a good game, and an improvement over the 2021 release, but its still smt5. a better smt5, but smt5 none the less.

@@shealtiel__ i dont see any area of the story that expects you have played the original to enjoy they still introduce everything as if its a new concept entirely True to area 1 but when you get to the end of it the story is already on a new course entirely and by the end of area 3 you have a complete new goal then the original game

@valletas dispite area 3 being new, events of the old area 3 are still constantly brought up. a new player has no idea who the demon king is or how they eliminated him. thats something you only know after playing the original. and in area 4 your goal may as well be the same. sure the demon i wont spoil is now a threat you have to worry about, but your goal is still to get the keys and claim the throne. same goal as the original.

Since last summer I played FF1-10, 10-2, 12, 13, 13-2, Lightning Returns, 15, 16, 7 Remake/Rebirth, Crisis Core, Persona 3 Reload, P3P, P4, P5, P5R, SMT3N, SMT5V and Soul Hackers 2. I also just beat Cyberpunk 2077 the other day and am now doing the dlc. Next I’ll do The Witcher 3 DLCs that I’ve never done. Not doing any game franchise/series right now because I’m waiting for Metaphor. But after Metaphor I’m doing all Kingdom Hearts games and then all Metal Gear/MGS games. I have platinumed every single game I’ve played during this binge since last summer. Oh I also played and platinumed Baldur’s Gate 3.

@@gimiklockmc5580 to be fair I used guides for FF1-10, P3R, P3P, P4, P5, and SMT3N. So it took a fraction of the time to 100% all these games compared to not using guides. Also FF1-6 only took about 90 hours total while FF7-9 were 40 hours each. For the persona games I sometimes used guides for day to day objectives to have the optimal route for getting all trophies. In SMt5V I skipped all dialogue that wasn’t for character stories or main story.

@@Duckman8213 that seems more being solely completionist than enjoying the game though. I mean even if it’s not connected to the main story those side quest can still have something good to them. Don’t get me wrong, the satisfaction is probably great however I feel like you may be missing a lot of the simple enjoyment that the creators intended. I’m not gonna tell you how to play your games though. That’s just how I feel.

I can’t wait to go back to playing this after P3R Episode Aigis. It’s my first SMT game and its freaking harddd man. The early game can brick your save in you’re not careful! Some people hate that in games but for me I’m a fanatic with how far I can take it and challenge myself. Then again when I did die to a random Amanozako item find I lost 3 hours of progress. Hurt, but the games too much fun to give in, I’m excited to dive through the story

@@ZzKevZz its like old school Final fantasy best comparison i can give is og final fantasy 7 but the narrative artstyle and enemies leans towards dragon quest 11 if that makes sense exploration and combat feel like a modern day mobile game like genshin impact however you dont spam ultimates like that you focus mostly on physical attacks occasional magic from your ai squadmates and most importantly its an easy to pick up game which is something alot of JRPGS tend to lack
