WARNING : Ya'll might be interested in playing the canon of Vengeance first, but there's a superboss that only appears in the Vengeance route if you do the Creation route's true neutral ending first and go into Vengeance route on NG+. This superboss unlocks something mandatory for those who want all the trophies. So keep that in mind if you wanna minimize the playthroughs you'll have to do. The two canons interact with each other in other ways like a superboss in Creation route needing an item from Vengeance route to show his true strength. So there will be some back and forth between routes to see everything and get the platinum trophy.

It wasn’t that bad, the Law ending was pretty bad I’ll give you that (and the Jack Frost redesign made me want to redesign my holomonitor) but the Chaos and Neutral stories well make up for it. And the SMT2 remake really makes up for any grievances. Besides 7 was never going to live up to 6 or Devil Survivor 3, it was good enough.

Same. Also, idk but I just don't tend to enjoy turned based battles on a bigger screen. The 3DS and switch were just perfect for me. Easier to focus on them when the screen is closer to my face instead of searching around on a big ol TV screen. And I also have a PS5, so I could play it on there, I just don't want to.

With that being said you’re probably going to have to wait for a rerelease of Smt 5 on the next gen switch if you want better graphical fidelity while taking advantaging of the portable factor, it definitely sucks that Nintendo couldn’t have just released the next gen switch sooner when we needed it the most.

Because its just an opinion? And TBH, the music is not that good/memorable. I wouldn't call the music on SMTV incredible, because in all honesty, it just isn't. I fail to remember a single track from the entire game that caught my attention. The music is the game's weakest point IMO.

Honestly, I respect the opinion of those (extremely vocal) gamers who abhor anything else other than constant 60FPS, but personally, when I play an RPG my mind is on art design, music, story and combat. The constant, incessant complaining regarding Switch performance is valid to an extent, but wildly overblown, as well.

too true, SMT V ran just fine on the switch, however playing on my pc i might notice the lower powered nature of the switch going back to it but really that isnt much of an issue for turn based combat rpgs

Yess consecutive battles keeps your omagatoki critical skills active which I find amazing for grinding. Especially since you can get a skill that makes consecutive battles happen more often

Menus and exploration feel a lot more stable in this updated switch version from what I’ve played. There’s still pop in and the dynamic resolution if that matters, but overall it feels much better to play. Could just be my imagination. Imma get it on switch because I rarely have time to sit in front of my TV anymore. Can’t have time sinks relegated to my PS5 unfortunately.

SMT V is definitely the most accessible in the series to newcomers, especially with all of the quality of life improvements in Vengeance

Smt V is a pretty good jumping off point for mainline smt. The main differences between the games is that It's tougher than modern persona (though i think there's an easy mode) and has a less character focused story. SMT focuses a lot on the atmosphere of its world. I have no idea how good Vengeance's story will be though.

As long as you don’t play on hard and save often you’ll be good. If you enjoy persona combat at all it’s basically that but way better with a large overworld to explore unlike persona

I think it’s a good starting point, overall gameplay is pretty good and addicting. The combat was so much fun, but the story of SMT V was kinda not good for me😅 I didn’t feel attach to any character like in the persona series, and everything felt so rushed.

@@thanattongweraprasert7026 SMT as a whole is less character driven than Persona, with most characters usually being one dimensional in every game. The only exception is Shin Megami Tensei 4 because that game was built different. But don’t expect to get attached to the characters playing a mainline game because they’re an afterthought meant solely for your alignment.

Glad they didn't half-ass the switch port and actually made it run better. Although imo I think some animations weren't meant to run at 60 frames so shit kinda freaks out every now and then, namely nahobino's hair

For me, the music was the best part of vanilla SMT V. People really be insane. But yeah, Vengeance basically sounds like what vanilla V should've been. I look forward to getting it when I can :)

Played until Hydra, I'm liking it so far. They actually fixed the level scaling. I actually beat Hydra at lower level and without grinding too much, holy shit. I like the qol stuff, they definitely made me progress faster than I thought I would, though it'll surely will make some people bark due to how easy you could level up during the first part of the game even without relying on the Mitama dlc.

Little late to the party, but I recently platted the PS5 version. I love it! Playing it on a system that can properly handle the Unreal engine makes a world of difference performancewise and makes the experiance much more enjoyable. The new story route is really good, with both new endings being worth it. For a really fun time, talk to Pixie and Demi-Feind after you defeat him, you will not regret it!

As far as any of the promotional content has shown, all of the original release's DLC (sans the Mitama DLC I think) is included as part of Vengeance. As a result, they now have new DLC you can purchase for Vengeance that's completely new. Like how P5 Royal had all of the original P5's DLC as free side content you could opt into if you wanted.

The base game id say is pretty Intermediate. Attacks tend to hit pretty hard and there are a fair amount of times that you’ll have to change your stats but theres consumable items in the shop and they’re absolutely CRACKED against bosses if your run out of SP for an elemental weakness. Of course I can’t speak for Vengeance as I haven’t played that, but since it’s essentially an expansion I’m willing to bet it’s about the same. It’s definitely not ball bustingly difficult like Nocturne and the first hour wasn’t a nightmare like IV’s first dungeon.

started Vengeance on normal and well smt v was touch and go start what with macca being tight and required to heal, the auto dlc healing item trivializes the first 5 levels or so before money evens out in Vengeance

I love the game it has all my favorite demons and angels in it from 3 and non.of the stupid new game plus mechanics. Only annoing part is when demons gain stats at the resting place you have to save and reload to get the desired stats same goes for leveling up. I wish they would let you pick what stats you want,but for the rest its a fun challanging game. Luckely you can mostly choose youre own charc stats

Its not that hard to understand. It's funnier to play in handheld for some. I played SMTV on Switch and yes there are some performance issues and yes Nintendo should release a new console. That said, I just hope 120fps and perfect performance when I play Elden Ring. For a turn based animu game I can live without smooth 120fps

I'm playing it on PC and Steam Deck, it's a have your cake and eat it scenario. I get to play the game in 4k120fps and also get to play it portably when I need that.
