There is heart ache and special good memories in behind this song. My oldest daughter daddy committed suicide 27yrs ago and the original one was played at his funeral and when she hears it she smiles and cries cause that her daddies song. Today my son sings the new one to his daughter and nephew which are only a few weeks apart and has done it for lil over 2yrs now and when my grandson hears it he stops everything he's doing and comes running and sings every single word to it and he's only 2 . I love this and there's not NOBODY BETTER THAN Jelly Roll TO PART OF THAT LEGACY OF SIMPLE MAN..

I’m 55 years old and I’ve lived my whole life about 8 miles from where Skynyrd’s plane crashed it was a huge deal here bc I’ve never met anyone around here that didn’t think Lynyrd Skynyrd was one of and most of us the greatest rock band that ever was, that being said this has been my favorite song and most relatable to my life of any song ever with my number two being Kid Rock “ Only God knows why” both of which my family knows to play at my funeral, and tho of course nothing can ever top Skynyrd’s version just seeing the respect and the love that Shinedown and Jelly gave in this rendition and the way the crowd responded I don’t really have a way of describing wat my heart felt but as I was already a Shinedown fan and admittedly a Jelly Roll fanatic this video just put way more love and respect in my heart for all these guys, BRAVO TIMES INFINITY GENTLEMEN BRAVO!!!! Whole body gets goosebumps every time I hear this song but seeing and hearing Jelly on it just amplified them to where I felt like I was turning super sayin! Just knowing where Jelly came from to where he is now and the person he is at this point in his life I don't think I relate to a person more then him! From the prison background to turning our life's around having daughters that need us and even though I'm not a famous musical artist that's where my love for Jelly comes from because I get to live vicariously through him and seeing all his accomplishments just feels like a win for me too and other people out there who feel the same way! I do sing and feel like I am good and have a unique voice but I find it hard being creative because of all the xanax and benadryl and pain pills I ate but I honestly don't ever feel regret or that I wish I could of chased that life for myself because then I probably wouldn't have all the things in my life that make me so happy today! I'm rambling at this point though but i dunno if I'm making sense about the connection I feel with a person I never met and who doesn't even know I exist but when I see things like this I just get filled with pride for some reason! And outside of how much I relate to Jelly the dude is just a genuinely good freaking guy and deserves all the happiness in the world so either way I'm rocking with Jelly Roll the long way and will do whatever I can to show my support so that he can go out there and do things like this for all us average people who a lot of people looked down on and thought they were better then us and never gave people like us a chance to do anything great with our lives. Well one of us did do it and even though he's a famous artist he would still never treat anyone with disrespect or negativity even if they did treat him that way. Jelly is the best example of if you want to get back at people who treated you like shit you do it by living your best life and not letting anything from your past hold you back or stop you from being happy and an overall good person. Ok I'm gonna stop now but I honestly could write a whole book on Jelly and his effect on his fans and what an inspiration he is so I hope one day in the future he'll come back across this post and see how much of an impact he's made on someone he doesn't know and has never met and I hope it makes him proud I also hope other average people might see it too and realize the power of having a genuine heart and humility and that it's not about looks or money or shoot really you dont even need to have a whole lot of talent I guess in terms of learning to read music and actually taking singing lessons and all that but if you honestly just want to help other people and try to help them see the world with a different perspective and you don't have some agenda other then to just start out by helping people while at the same time not letting yourself get taken advantage of cause it is a sea full of sharks out there but I really do believe people, genuine people can tell when someone else is just out here trying to do good and bring some positivity and some real life experiences to others then that's when your life will really start to change and then after you've proven that you can handle that level of fame while still remaining humble and true to yourself that's when you will really have the life that you want and helping others is literally the gift that keeps on giving! Damn I just keep rambling! Ok I'm done all the best to Everyone and Shinedown and Jelly Roll thank yall for that experience I'm excited for all yalls future and to be able to witness it so I thank yall for that and wish yall the best and continued success! Peace!!!
