Yeah, the solo album series is also called the "Plagiarism Series" - Jonghyun started it off with his BASE album by copying the design of Taemin's ACE, and then they just kept it going. The full series is completed now with Minho's first solo album: ACE, BASE, FACE, VOICE, CHASE. They all end with the -isu sound in Korean. :) SHINee's kinda... clingy? lol By the way, they've put out a truly batshit amount of music between 2021 and now. While Taemin was enlisted in the military, I think Onew alone put out something like 33? tracks between his Korean and Japanese solo discographies. 😅 There's definitely a lot to check out. Key's audition is actually available on KZbin if you search! You can see everyone around him give up. Minho's written most of the raps in SHINee songs since basically their debut, which is super impressive. They've also all contributed lyrics and choreography ideas. Taemin was actually pretty close to Jonghyun (their families lived in the same area and they spent a lot of time together) and Onew (Onew helped him practice singing) as trainees before they ever knew they'd all be debuting together! They also spent a year together pre-debut preparing. But yeah, Taemin didn't think he was ready to debut either, and he actually asked his parents to contact the company to tell them that. The company wanted him to be the main dancer and center, so his vocals weren't considered important at the time, especially since the vocal line was the capable Jonghyun-Onew-Key. Not being up to par with the others vocals-wise was a huge source of frustration for him for years. ANYWAY. If you want another short guide that's a bit outdated but much more on the funny side, try A Very SHINee Guide by Very Swank. 👍 Have fun checking out more SHINee! (As for solos, whatever works for you, but just be aware that their solo styles are all wiiiiildly different so putting all five in one video at a time might result in some significant whiplash lol.)

The solo album connection is literally the cutest thing I’ve ever heard 😭 talk about a kpop group that’s really family. That’s so precious. I always see SHINee content on my IG and Twitter and I fell in love with their friendship/funny side before I ever listened to their music 😂 I’ll have to find Key’s audition! I can’t believe he’s the only one that made it. Deserved tho. High appreciation for the groups that were writing their own lyrics and doing their own choreo when it wasn’t as well-known to do that. Did not know that about taemin and Jonghyun! I think it was a huge risk for taemin but ultimately I’m glad it ended up working out for him. Was probably very frustrating at the beginning of his career but he’s made it so far and he’s become such an icon in kpop 🥺 his hyungs were really looking out for him. I’ll probably do one members solo work per reaction! 😂 it seems there’s a lot more than I thought to dive into haha Thank you for all of the fun info! I love reading these comments 😊

"She Is" is Jonghyun's title track on his second solo album from 2016. And just like SHINee, nothing he does will be like anything you have heard from him before. Jonghyun was such a magnificent singer/songwriter. His solo albums were all so colorful because it was 100% his voice and style -- he was the one that wrote and composed or co-composed the whole album every time. So his solo songs were where we got to hear his true thoughts and emotions and he could tell his story. He was truly brilliant when it came to music and that was why he was so highly respected by everyone in all aspects of the music industry. I truly believe that if he had had more time in this world, he would have eventually even made it into the U.S. music scene and he might have even wrote songs for western artists. Live performances are what makes SHINee special. There is nothing like a live performance from SHINee. You should really check out a live performance of "She Is," you will be even more impressed when you see and hear him perform live. Jonghyun has crazy stage presence and he completely owns the stage whenever he performs. You did well Jonghyun, and you never will be forgotten.

Onew's performance of "Rainy Blue" was during their SHINee World 2014 concert, which is one of their Japanese concerts. The reason why the audience screams so loud and Onew cries during this performance is because this was Onew's first solo performance since having vocal surgery. It was a really scary surgery because there was no guarantee that he would ever be able to sing again, let along at the same quality as he did before the surgery. Onew spent about 3 months after his surgery not being able to speak at all in order to give his vocal cords time to heal and then he had to learn to sing all over again. This performance was proof to himself and the fans that he could still do it and that nothing had changed. ("Rainy Blue" is a cover of a Japanese song, which Onew has kind of made famous internationally. Onew is singing in Japanese.) Jonghyun was highly respected for his songwriting and composing skills. He was one of the very first Idols to be recognized as a songwriter and he became one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. He was the first SM Idol to have a fully self-written album. And all his albums following that were written and composed or co-composed by him. As you just saw, his legacy includes several dozen songs credited to him. It's one of the things that all Shawols hold onto as part the legend that he left behind that we feel is our duty to share with the world in order to keep his memory alive. He also wrote about 40% of SHINee's songs and several songs for other artists, such as EXO's "Playboy," Lee Hi's "Breathe," IU's "Gloomy Clock" and Taemin's "Pretty Boy" and "Already," among others. Minho has songwriting credits on almost all of SHINee's songs and any song he is involved in because, as the main rapper, he writes all of his rap sections in SHINee songs. Plus, he has actually wrote part of or all of the lyrics for several of SHINee's songs and has participated in writing the lyrics of his solo singles and his debut solo album Chase in 2022. (Notice how Minho's solo debut album also follows Jonghyun's legacy of making sure that the title of their solo debut albums rhyme.) This guide came out in 2021, so you have to remember that this information is outdated. SHINee are known for being the first to do almost everything within the Kpop industry, and they are considered the trendsetters of almost everything. And true to that title, they became the first SM group -- and one of the first Kpop groups overall -- to have ALL of their members debut solo while still an active member of a group. If you know Minho, it's actually NOT surprising that it took him until 2022 to debut solo. As one of the top actors in the industry, Minho pretty much focuses all his solo activities on his acting career and when not participating in something as a member of SHINee he is almost always on the set of his latest drama or movie. Releasing solo music is not a priority to him, which is why he mostly only releases one solo single at a time and does almost no promotions for the song. All of his solo MVs are very cinematic and he participates in the story writing, directing and editing of his MVs. He has a Master's degree in filmmaking and acting. For SM it didn't matter that Taemin was still developing as a singer because his role in the group was as the main dancer and -- as one of the best dancers in the entire industry, even as a trainee -- they felt his talents needed to be showcased right away. (SHINee was one of the youngest groups to debut at the time and Taemin was one of the youngest idols in the industry.) That's why in SHINee's first few songs he has big solo dance breaks and is featured in the front and center of the group because his job was to show off his dance skills. SM knew the other members were such outstanding vocalists to begin with that they didn't necessarily need to worry about Taemin singing a whole lot. It just so happened that with a little coaching from Onew and Jonghyun, and Taemin's perfectionist attitude that pushed him to focus his time on vocal training, he also grew into one of the top MAIN vocalists in the industry. Taemin has now taken over most of Jonghyun's parts in SHINee's songs. SHINee was also originally training to be a hip-hop group, so it didn't matter to SM that Taemin wasn't a great singer. They all started out being trained in rap. SM originally put Taemin in the group to be a hip-hop dancer. But as Key has explained, right before SHINee was going to debut SM decided that being so young, the members really didn't have the swag to pull off being a full-time hip-hop group, so at the last minute SM switched up the group's concept and style and gave them their debut song "Replay." The SHINee members spent a few intense months developing their vocal skills to match the style of their new song and the rest is history. That is how SHINee developed their signature contemporary R&B style they are now known for and became the original vocal powerhouses of the industry. They were never planning to be a vocal group. Prior to becoming a trainee at the age of 11, Taemin had no formal dance training. He started out as a self-taught popper and locker who learned to dance by copying dancers on TV, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. He said he thought dancers like Kpop solo artist Bi Rain and Michael Jackson were cool, so he would try and copy their moves. He debuted as the main dancer of SHINee in 2008 at the age of 14 -- so he had about 3 years of training as a dancer once he became a trainee. Therefore, most of what you see is just natural talent and an unbelievable amount of dedication. Taemin has put in a lot of effort to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard than himself. He has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training. It's said that if Taemin's dance looks easy then it's actually really difficult and if it looks extremely difficult then it's even harder than you imagine. No one moves the way he does and even his backup dancers struggle to keep up with him. Choreographers say he is constantly asking them to make the choreography more difficult and he is never satisfied until the difficulty level is off the charts. As Taemin has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does. Taemin has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. He's also one of the only idols who have debuted in 3 different Kpop generations -- second generation with SHINee in 2008, third generation as a solo artist in 2014 and now fourth generation as a member of SuperM in 2019. You should watch some of Taemin's concert documentaries to see just how hard he trains and works. If you search KZbin you will find 2 or 3 from his solo concerts, as well as documentaries/behind the scenes of SHINee's concerts. Taemin doesn't have to try to grab your attention, he just exudes command of the stage. That is what makes him one of the top performers and why he is so popular. Yes, he has literally been voted one of the top two BEST dancers in all of Kpop by his peers and industry experts. That is why he has been nicknamed the Korean Michael Jackson. Literally everyone in the Kpop industry looks up to Taemin and idolizes him. (There is literally a well-know saying in Korea, TIMRM in Korean, which stands for "Taemin Is My Role Model" because almost everyone in the industry cites him as the reason why they wanted to become a singer and dancer.) He is the idol that most choreographers dream of getting the chance to work with. Taemin's talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. With more than 15 years since their debut, they still command one of the top spots and are all active as a group and as soloists.

Ahh such an outdated guide now. Jinki had just undergone vocal surgery when he sang Rainy Blue and cried. The original singer had gone through the same vocal surgery. It was a difficult process. Jonghyun is just thee artist/vocalist. His ballads are so heartbreakingly beautiful. ..And then horny hours lol. He wrote exo Playboy, Lee Hi’s Breathe. The duality 😅 Jonghyun’s family set up the shiny foundation, a charity for musicians struggling with their mental health, after he passed. All the money from his music streams go to them. Comme des, garçons and Roo are grown up now 🐕 Key a regular for Amazing Saturday and I Live Alone. He’s also known for being the encyclopaedia of girl group choreo it’s insane. I recommend Minho’s film New Normal- his part in the film is short but it’s really good 😊. Shocked it mentioned nothing about how competitive he is and how much he lives and breathes sports/football??? His dad is a football manager. He’s always attending games and competing in sports shows. Not mentioning flaming charisma!!! Minho’s passion for sport is crazy 😂 His album is Chase. I think the only group to have all members solo? Plus they’ve released more albums since. The way they all got into sm and formed the group ❤️. The Members practically raised Taemin. Jonghyun knew him from 11 years old. Yellow is taemins colour 😅 he didn’t pick it though but his icons are a chick and cheese lol Jonghyun’s is red ❤️. Key is pink, Minho blue, jinki green. And the group colour is pearl aqua.

@@ToniReacts Hi there! I've been a Dreamcatcher fan since the Minx days and there are many reasons why somnias don't recommend reacting to minx. First of all, Minx was a "failure". Which honestly is the best and worst thing at the same time (best, considering we got Dreamcatcher from it). One of the reasons is that the members, especially Siyeon and Dami, hated the concept (it was a typical gg 2014 cute concept). Dami had to change her natural deep voice into a cute and lighter tone and..again act cute, which she hates in general. The MV for "Love Shake" is...well, there are a lot of inappropriate shots of them with tight shorts on (which is weird considering Dami and Yoohyeon were 16-17 at the time). Also, when minx was "dismissed", Siyeon became depressed to the point where she couldn't listen to music at all as she kept thinking that other people got to live her dream while she failed. Edit: if you want to check out Minx, feel free to do it in your own time. They don't have many songs but the b-sides (imo) are good. Please continue to react to Dreamcatcher, they're an amazing group with great songs, it's just that "minx" is ironically their dark past (ironically because they went from bright and cute concept that failed to dark and scary concept which they succeeded in)
@ToniReacts6 ай бұрын
@@jsshdyg1301 I sincerely appreciate the lowdown! I wasn’t aware of the history as minx at all. Super helpful! Tbh the overly cutesy concept is a huge reason I haven’t really gotten into gg in general. I can’t stand forced aegyo or forced cutesy stuff. Or the fake high pitch voice either. It took my friends a lot of convincing to tell me Dreamcatcher isn’t like that and they’re very much worth checking out. And I’m glad I did because I love their concepts and the powerful messages they have in their music! It’s a shame they force these 15-16 year old girls to wear questionable outfits, adhere to ridiculous beauty standards, and force them to do concepts they don’t want to do. I will get on my feminist soap box if I genuinely react to these girl groups 😂 minx might be something I check out on my own but not sure if I’ll react! @@ToniReactsI completely understand because I was like that with girl groups as well (especially when I first got into kpop). Personally, I've outgrown my bias against girl groups. I feel 2nd gen and early 3rd gen girl groups (not all but some) had this more "cutesy" vibe to them so I was not into it at all. Not saying that there aren't groups like that in 4th or 5th gen, but the groups I've seen and listened to have more of a "girl crush" concept without the "cuteness" that korea is for some reason obsessed with. I'll definitely look forward to your DC reactions :) Also, completely out of topic, but thank you for reacting to Jonghyun. Many reactors that react to shinee, completely disregard him (or they don't react to their older stuff at all) but he played a huge part not only in shinee but kpop industry as a whole. He was the first idol that was given the creative freedom to produce and write an entire album by himself (She Is album), he was very outspoken about the LGBTQ+ community (he even wrote a letter to a transgender student that was getting bullied), he spoke about (his and in general) mental health a lot (on his radio show and songs). Listening to his songs will give you an opportunity to find out more about him as a person. Especially in his "Story Op. 1" and "Story Op. 2" albums. He wrote these two albums from the stories that his radio listeners sent to him and his own life. He was Taemin's vocal teacher (along with Onew). Taemin was considered "tone deaf" in early shinee days so they both took (esp Jonghyun as he considered himself Taemin's first mom 😂) under their wings. If you listen to their songs (OT5 and OT4 and Taemin's solo) you can hear Jonghyun's influence in Taemin's voice through out the years and now.
