View was such an important era for SHINee. They themselves have said many times, that this album was a turning point for them. For the first time, they had a lot of say in what they wanted from this comeback as a whole. And notably, the title track. Also, originally, there were two versions of it - one version with lyrics Jonghyun wrote, and one without - and Key championed for Jonghyun's version, that he thought was much better, and all the members unanimously agreed, which is the version we have now. Also, Key had a big part in styling for this era. He said that at the time, it was popular for groups to have a uniform type of style, but he wanted something totally different for them. So, he and the stylists literally went to local thrift shops to find outfits, and inspo. He said that during music shows, they felt awkward at first because they kind of stuck out with their more causal looks, but, it definitely benefitted them. View is, to this day, one of their most popular songs (along with classics like RDD & Lucifer). It also introduced the genre of deep house to the kpop industry, which became a trend after SHINee did it. This song was the start of SHINee really hitting their stride, and becoming more themselves in terms of music, style, everything.

This MV was dedicated to Shawol. Pardon my poor english but I want to explain the meaning of it with my own words. At the start of the MV, SHINee looks exhausted with their idol life and daily routine. Paparazzi blocking their every step make them suffocated but they can't do anything about it. Then comes a group of Shawol (represented by the girls) that had a plan about kidnapping them so they can have some days off from their idol life. You can see the girl inform Minho about their plan first so they won't get panic. After the girls succeed bring the boys out of public eyes. They just chillin out with SHINee just like what friends would do. In the scene where one girl open up her shirt and bassicaly let Onew do anything to her but Onew refuse was like a statement that don't sexualized them as it was not necessary in any way. Other scene where Minho got hitted by some stranger that harrass one of the girl was some kind of message that SHINee will protect their fans as best as they could and Shawol will do the exact same for them. At the end when police sirene can be heard they come to the realization that they must return to their busy idol life. Not so helping since my explanation was so messy but I hope it make you understand the storyline of the MV.

View is the ultimate summer bop. It was not at all like other stuff of the time in that stripped back sense you mentioned. SHINee has said that they felt so weird at first in tank tops and shorts at music shows while all the other groups were in like sparkly suits but it really made them stand out. The premise of the music video is supposed to be along the lines of some fans kidnapping the group so they can go incognito and party for just a little while. :)

This was SHINee’s turning point as a group, and they made a huge impact on Kpop too. Honestly, you could check out 4 walls to get the full experience of that era. The MV is... something else. View was originally meant for f(x) and 4 walls for SHINee. But they both wanted each other’s original song more 😭

"View" came out in 2015, and it is another one of the numerous songs that was wrote by Jonghyun. Jonghyun is highly respected as a singer/songwriter and he was one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. SHINee were actually the ones to introduce deep house style music to the Kpop industry with "View." "View" was even voted by the Korean public as one of the songs that needs to make a comeback in 2021, because it was so ahead of it's time in 2015 that people didn't appreciate it for what it was. It has now become one of SHINee's most popular songs. Check out SHINee's recent appearance on the variety show MMTG part 1: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZqkpHaCpcyNiqs and part 2: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHiokqqqqbmiqrc when SHINee came on the show to discuss the popularity of "View" and talk about their legacy in the Kpop industry, etc. (They even performed "View" in their recent Beyond Live virtual concert earlier this year as a special showcase for MMTG.). Yes, all the members are adults in this MV. Onew is 25, Jonghyun had just turned 25, Key is 23, Minho is 23 and Taemin is 21. If you think Minho's arms are sexy, just wait until you see SHINee's live performance of "Dynamite" at their SHINee World Concert IV in Seoul that they did this same year. ;) You will see why he was named one of the 12 sexiest men in the world by Vogue Magazine in 2015. As I think you know, Key is SM's director of fashion, and he often is the one that designs SHINee's outfits for their MVs and concerts. So, the look and concept for this MV was all created by Key in collaboration with their stylists. He decided he wanted their looks to emulate skater-boy fashion and in order to accomplish that they actually went to the local markets and purchased the clothes for this MV and their comeback stage outfits right off the rack. Which had them setting their own trend yet again, and doing something that no one else was doing at the time. (Everything SHINee does is trendsetting, including their fashion. They are known for their huge influence on the fashion industry in Korea. SHINee is the group that is known for being the first to do almost everything. They start the trend and everyone else follows.) Fun fact: This MV was filmed in Thailand, so the actresses are all Thai. The funny thing is, the girls don't speak Korean.The SHINee members said they really didn't interact much with the girls when not filming because they couldn't communicate with them. If you pay attention to the lyrics for "View" you will see that the song is about being mesmerized and sort of brainwashed by the beautiful view as seen within a dream.The MV seems to be about living in the dream of being like a normal group of young men hanging out with friends and having fun in the summer without anything to worry about. However, SHINee have been kidnapped by the girls, and although they end up having fun hanging out together, I think why we hear the police sirens at the end is because the police are coming to rescue SHINee. If you notice, even though they are having fun most of the time, whenever the girls get close to them, SHINee pushes them away, or looks away. So SHINee are not necessarily 100% OK with everything that is happening. And, if you want to see how much fun they had making the MV, you should check out the behind the scenes footage. Nothing is better than SHINee live. ;D SHINee's whole concept as SM's experimental boy group, means that EVERY song you hear from them will be completely different from anything you have ever heard, even on the same album. SHINee are known for setting trends, never following them.When it comes to their music and choreography they are expected to come up with something that has never been done before, not just in the Kpop industry, but something unique and trendsetting that has never been seen or heard before in the world music scene. EVERYTHING SHINee does is unique and groundbreaking and yet it always sounds and feels like SHINee. :D The Kpop industry actually looks to SHINee to tell them what the next style and sound will be. So after more than a decade, they have pretty much done it all, and yet they are still smashing records and changing the industry with every new song release, even still today..

Yes! Everybody live just hits different. You've made it to View era, this is a favourite for many people. It's so iconic, for reasons that have already been explained in other comments. It's hard to imagine because there has been so much house influenced kpop since then but the sound really was revolutionary at the time. It was nominated as a song that should be brought back not because it was unsuccessful but because it still sounds so fresh people thought it would be even more successful now even with the same choreo and styling. The girls are meant to be sketchy! Honestly my reaction was pretty similar to yours when it came out, what on earth was going on in this video, we were so far removed from our nice safe SM box! I was waiting for you to notice Minho's arms haha, Key really gifted us with his styling choices for the group this time. I think it was also the first time Minho dyed his hair something other than black/brown so everyone's minds were blown. I have to laugh at TaeKey's noodle arms vs JjongHo's... yeah. Your slow Minho induced breakdown was hilarious but also so so justified. I've just realised, have you not seen Minho in Dynamite yet??? I warn you now you are going to die. it will not be pretty. There is a reason Vogue voted him as one of the sexiest men alive.

not gonna be one of the shawols here writing you a book about what this video meant to them as a group, just gonna say that i for one am SHOCKED that you didn't vibe with this music video all about how being famous is OK but stockholm syndrome with hot girls is better!! 😂 i adore it but to each their own. jonghyun pushing the phone camera out of the rando's hands is my favorite part, obviously. also, not sure if you're looking for lives, but you're officially at the point where chronologically it makes sense for you to watch excuse me miss and dynamite, two of the great shinee lives done around this time (though the songs themselves are from the dream girl/why so serious era). excuse me miss is genuinely must watch, and dynamite... well if you liked minho here, you'll have a good time. thanks again for this rj! highlight of my friday

This song is amazing, I love it so much. 🥰 Jonghyun wrote the lyrics about synesthesia after talking to a fan who has it. He is really an amazing lyricist. And yes this is around the era I was also shook by Minho and his gorgeous everything lol.

The Odd/MTTM/2015 era is my favorite of the SHINee eras! Minho's biceps stole the show for me in these videos, he especially worked really hard on his body this era 💪🏻😍🤭 This is also the same year of that legendary/iconic SHINee performance of their B-side Dynamite (from their Dream Girl: Misconceptions of You album) at SWC4. The music video was filmed in LA and the story is that the girls kidnapped them and replaced them with clones. So we see them dancing, but the guys are getting a much needed break. A coming of age MV for sure.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. I am so excited to start watching ur Shinee content. I recently got to watch a reaction with all the MVs. So i am halfway caught up i think. But now its relisten time. Plus, I love to hear what u think of each song. Taemin bias here and OT5. View has been stuck in my head this week. I have been listening to it so much. It's so catchy! Love it. So this was a relisten. Great vocals. Taemin looked great with this hair color and style. The MV shocked me too on 1st watch. So many girls. And the guys got kidnapped. There was a lot there for sure. So i kinda disagree with u about the MV being simple. =0p This song makes me want to dance anywhere.
