I actually like the concept of making this show an anthology series, since from the way season 1 concluded, there's nothing more to really add. I'm excited to see the new cast, and that they'll apparently be covering the late 90's/new millennium with 1999, 2000 and 2001, a similar structure.

Yeah I am really happy they're going the American Horror Story route. Extending a show when the story is over has never ever turned out well! Look at 13 Reasons why, pretty little liars, Supernatural. I always thought 13 Reasons Why should have gone the American horror Story route and focused on a different story with different teenagers and a different School and it would have been a much better show. I have high hopes for it!

I am so sad that we will not be able to see how Kate and Mallory’s relationship continues and how they will go on to help each other heal. They had great chemistry. Also, I really loved Olivia Holt, and very disappointed that she will not be returning. She did a bang-up job in season 1 and was looking forward to seeing her again in season 2.

For me, I kinda wanted to see more about Ben and Vincent and some more info about Kate and the stepsister who wrote to her under the anonymous name. But other than that I think Season 1 wrapped up things amazingly. I am gonna miss the season one cast though.

kinda bummed there was some plots left unsolved in s1 but yeah I think if it were the same cast and concept it’d be awfully dragged out. as long as this new season can keep the excitement and thrill just as exhilarating as s2 I think it sounds great!

honestly I'm a bit sad that we aren't going to have some answer about the first season story they could have at least done one more episode to wrap stuff nicely why reveal just at the end that she knew and didn't help ? And also I'm kinda mad about Olivia Holt again being screwed over by freeform

Me neither, but they probably realised that there was nowhere new the plot could go with the same characters, so instead opted for a different cast, with three separate timelines.

I can’t remember if it was part of the original series announcement or not, but I think towards of end of season 1 it just felt like that’s where it was going.

Im soooo upset... that they have an all New cast and all new story line. This is beyond devastating, waiting a year only to hear that Kate & Janettes story will NOT continue. BIG MISTAKE... ppl have been waiting for this and now they have just let us down. 😔 And they were such a great cast. Guarantee this new cast will not compare.

i'm so glad they decided to make the show an anthology series. season 1's story was pretty much done and if they tried to continue it I'm pretty sure it would ruin a great season. some series and movies are not meant to have a long development where we see the whole story of the character's lives until they get married and get old, etc. cruel summer is a mystery, and once the mystery is solved there is no reason to continue the story, unless you want to turn it into some of those long series that have 10 seasons and then end with a bad finale. the main question was answered and part of the fun is wondering what happened to the characters.
