@EmilParkour Жыл бұрын
Exactly, I saw all of the tricks, but I still think it was a fair fool. There are no physical evidence if you don't pry to far. The mat is ordinary and the table too, there are clearly no hatches or pockets in the mat or table-top, but he does have a secret. As long as that secret is kept there is no way to say exactly what method the secret uses. You can only figure out how the effect is done but not with exactly what means. What kind of forces are in play when it comes to tension, If you know what I'm saying ;) Some of the tricks are really just sleight of hand though and some of them are tricks that every card magician knows. But they are close to perfection, so it really doesn't matter if you know.

@CaerelsJan6 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly! With about every trick done on the show I wanna know how they deceived my mind or how easy the trick sometimes is. But Shins magic is something you don't want to ruin by figuring it out. It just feels so satisfying not knowing it. It almost feels like it isn't a trick, but pure magic
@jpow3336 жыл бұрын
Matthew Thomas. No you don't.
@canisvest6 жыл бұрын
Simply Genius actually its the whole opposite to me. Most of the stuff he did was even openly thought by Shin himself and the only thing i don't know is how he's always doing those deck switches. I'm actually disappointed in both Shin and P&T because first, you can actually buy his explanation of 52 shades of red which includes most of his performance and it's not so clever to go to fool us with a routine where the majority of the effects are known to everyone who wants to spend a bit of money. And i'm disappointed in P&T because they didn't even try to figure out how he switched decks (this is the only unexplainable part for me because i know the rest if it for sure). Normally they would ask him questions if he used black magic or Teller would go up to him and show him his idea on his sketchbook but Penn just looked behind the table and gave Shin the Price. Not that I disrespect anyone of them, they all are great magicians and i really admire their skill and creativity, but with Penn and Tellers knowledge -which is far greater then mine- they should not've been fooled.

Penn and Teller are very experienced professional magicians. When it comes to magic tricks, all it takes is knowing the category of the trick: card tricks, dice, etc for Teller to pretty much know what techniques are applied and how the trick is done. There no need to "try." They will either know how its done or won't. Only amateurs will guess. And only the inexperienced will try. Probably, they know how a trick is done 10 seconds into the magician doing it. And if they don't know by then, there's no point wasting time.

The thing I particularly love about this act: Shin Lim kept his hands and forearms visible the entire time. None of this "put a cloth in front of the magician for a bit while he does something sneaky" or "make you look somewhere else while my other hand is pulling a fast one". He's right in front of you, doing these things that astonish, and encouraging you to stare right at him while he does it. That's so pure, so perfect, the guy is pretty much defining everything stage magic should be.

iiii knooowwww?? !! right? his sleeves are up he shows his hands??... wtf is that?
@overnightclassic26 жыл бұрын
The bad thing about this routine is it's exactly what you describe but in a different way. He's doing *VERY* sneaky things, but in "plain view." The problem being is this trick is actually filmed twice (notice how his sleeves go up and down during the routine) because you can see everything in the original performance. This trick definitely looks awful up close, and a lot of the lighting has to be careful, or you can see the cards on the table. He used to have a video up where you could see all the black backed cards on the table, in plain view the whole time, and I believe he took it down, but the magic was completely ruined when you could just see them sitting there the whole time. In a few instances in this video you can see them too, but it's very subtle. The main problem with this routine is he took a black art card concept, which until this point was used for only minor effects, and made it the star of his illusion. He's overused it to the point where it becomes kind of obvious what he's doing once you watch his performance a few times, and it gives away a relatively unknown secret to laypeople. His routines are good, but they are borderline too edgy because certain parts are way too obvious and they giveaway too much. For example the dream act is magical the first time you view it, but after that, it's way too obvious that he's using duplicate cards.
@themaggot86 жыл бұрын
I didn't noticed that this was recorded twice until you mentioned the sleeves thing, and yes, you are correct. I have the 52 shades of red V1 and V2 and they look beautiful in camera with the correct lightning, but up close it looks like complete shit.
