Hey shintaro, I have a question, in tai otoshi are you using your hip when you throw? Because I thought that in tai otoshi you don’t use your hip at all
@Curtistopsidae Жыл бұрын
Nakano-sensei ended up using his hips a little to carry uke because the lead-side underhook simply placed their bodies so close together. What still makes it tai-otoshi is that this would still work even with no hip contact. The underhook is just used to sweep uke around tori, rather than being used to pull uke onto tori's hip. Another variation that works without the gi (if you have a solid wrist grip) is to wedge the lead-side hand into uke's forearm, just beyond the elbow. You'd need to execute this version from a bit further than typical no-gi grappling distance though
