This is great! I teach a blend of Chinese and Filipino Martial Arts with other techniques I've picked up from other styles and fighters over the years. I started in judo but only practiced for a year as a kid, now that I'm close to 70 and can't take falls I wish I would have put in the years in this very practical Self-Defense! This is perfect and well explained to the point I think I will be able to teach a few of the basics to my class and of course will send them the link to your channel! I Subscribing to it right now! Thank you, for sharing your Art!

Reminiscent of a famous television commercial that ran in the 1980s in Japan, I believe. Both are excellent demonstrations of the power and elegance of Kodokan judo

Do you think it's safe to start judo at 40 years old? Would love to do Judo but I keep reading/getting told that Judo's really for younger people and that I should choose BJJ?

I always find something new to teach and use in class, even small or simple things even after 60 years but mostly reassurance that what I am doing is fundamentally correct. Great for students and coaches to study

Hello Sensei, 32 years old beginner here, what gear//protection you recommend EVERYONE to wear during practice in the dojo to ''minimize'' injury risk ? from most important to least important
@Larz1000000
@Larz1000000 14 күн бұрын
I do both BJJ and Judo, the same question comes up in both. The gear you're wearing isn't really the best fix, mediate your intensity and try not to make every randori roll a fight to the death. Do randori at 50% and work on your technique, this will serve you far better in the long run because you're learn more and you'll have less injuries. You can always increase the intensity if need be later.

Hi, would you be able to share any advice on where to find high level professional judo training in Japan, in an area that is also cheap to live in (not tokyo for etc). For someone who wants to stay there 6 months. I am a 29 year old with 7 years of wrestling and bjj experience. If it's an area that also has bjj training available, even better! Thanks

Well, if someone is having his upper arm paralel to the ground it means (at least for me) that your arm has not power at all, than your throw (kake) is compensated by bending your body forward. My opinion is that if throw is going to be efficient, especially in shiai, you have to use your potential strength of arm to execiute it. So your elbow should be as close to your body as possible, even almost behind your body (what of course requires some mobility of your shoulder), and you should act with your body strength going under the catching point of your hand and pressing up similarly as you press catelbell that you hold in your hand! For the kuzushi if you press uke backward than you receive his reaction forward - it is enough. But for the greep of the other hand I would suggest inside greep - inside pocket greep of the ukes forearm. In such position of your body (of course leg assisted) you are wery powerfull, almost unstopable. Bat doing morote seoi nage in nage no kata stile seems to me not to be efficient if you do randori or shiai! Of course it is only my opinion and my way of doing morote seoi nage!
