i know im a WHOLE year late, but i just got the game 2 days ago and after 27 hours in and 230 catches, i got a female shiny Pidgey you getting it after only 33 simply blows my mind - only a week after getting a shiny Vulpix in Pokemon Shield after hatching 1,536 eggs lol

You only need a catch combo of 31 and you have max odds, you just need to run around for the shiny, you wasted balls

I've been hunting since yesterday. About 8 hours of active hunting, at a Pidgey combo of 149 (and yes, I know that I don't have to keep catching after 31), has resulted in only a shiny Adamant Rattata, but so far no shiny Pidgey.

Honestly, I feel like its total luck! I spent another hour waiting for another to come as Im aiming for a living dex and NOTHIN. So even at 31, I think the shiny chance is higher the more encounters you get. I think 31 just gets you a X2 chance. Just gotta stick at it! You'll get it soon!

@@Danton1990 You've gone too far, All the shiny luck that you get it soon! If you don't want to get too overleveled, Add the eevee to your pokemon box (it will stay with you) and it wont gain experience.

So I am not sure how shines work. But I was farming pikachu to get candies to boost my main. I found a shiny bulbasaur, pidgey and Caterpie.

ElitePWNSFace shiny rates overall are affected with a combo chain. Chain of the mon doesn’t matter. A chain of 31 Pidgey yields same result as chain of 31 moltres. And it means you have the same odds of finding any mon in a route as shiny as well.

I'm at 2-3k rattatas on one game (999+ combo chain) and fast clocking up to 350 and beyond on a second copy on second switch trying to do so, I don't think it's actually possible to get shiny rattata D: edit: or shiny anything for that matter. No other species has appeared during any of this time either.

Sam Levesque Encounters are physical catches to increase the combo chain. So initiating a battle and successful catch of the Pokémon. Tiny or huge does not affect it either way.

So caught my first shiny a Pidgey lvl 37 at route 17, but it's stats are "just ok" aren't shinies suposed to have flawless stats? What do I do with it should I just send it to Oak?

After a chain of 31, the rate of IV for most shinies will be at max 4IV guaranteed, however, it becomes entirely random usually.

It depends on the route Pidgey is on tbh. There isnt really a shiny thats "common" per say just the more something spawns the more chances it has to be shiny odds wise just because of spawn numbers. Congrats on the random shiny! :D

ZieArrow If you are using a Lure, once you have 31 combos, then your odds are 1/315.08. The only way to get it better is to obtain the Shiny Charm.

Ugh I had 44 catch combo and still no shiny Pidgey. Then a Pidgey ran in to me and it triggered a catch & it ran away on a Razz Ball and Great Throw. Now I’m back to zero. Let this be a lesson to always save. UGH. And what’s terrible is 44 catch rate and still no shiny. So annoying. I never have Shiny luck.

It will come eventually! Ive had several mons take into the thousands to obtain, though if youre catching consecutive beyond that of 31, its unnecessary unless you want the EXP as the chance doesnt increase any higher once you go over 31.
