The railroad gauge width of the JR Group conventional lines is a narrow gauge (1067 mm). The loading gauge of the JR group is 3000mm maximum width and 4100mm maximum height on 1067mm narrow gauge. For this reason, there is no double-stack rail transport in Japan.
