People that are truly familiar with local cultures treat trends as trends, not as rules. Shiori described a fellow tourist politely asking her what her cosplay is -- that's not a catcall by any sane standard, and considering he was a tourist, it certainly wasn't nanpa.

None of advent outside of the doggos know how to speak Japanese. The doggos are extremely fluent. Of the others, Nerissa has the most experience with the language due to the translation work she does on songs. Biboo is brand new to it, but appears to be picking things up fast.

and if he knows about vtubers, so what? There's thousands of them. And knowing about vtubers and being a fan of one is two entirtely different things. He might know cosplay mainly from video games. And even if they're a Hololive fan, there's 86 active talents right now. He might only watch Japanese vtubers. He might not even know about Advent. He might not even care much for Hololive because he watches Indies instead. He might only have Marine as an oshi and he might not care much about other vtubers. He might be a vtuber himself. Or he might just be a dude who was mildliy curious about an outfit that looked like cosplay to him.
