Molly is not just another pretty face here. A lady of many, many talents.

If the pieces were actually shaped like LEGOS you could probably have found every kid, and a lot of adults, who would have volunteered to help you. Catching up on all these videos is so entertaining and educational (although I did watch the 4 building videos earlier but the second time is just as great). One constant: Molly is always smiling; and a great smile it is! One thing, she keeps telling us is she is really new to being a full-time farmer; but if she never told us I doubt we would really know. For the hut build, I would have an issue up in the lift because my brain does not like heights; yet Molly seems to have no fear or concerns, just does what needs to be done. She runs tractors, packages corn and potatoes (hefting those 50lb bags onto the pallets like she has been doing it all her life; and why they package literally many tons of potatoes/corn a day. If this farming thing does not work out, I think she could start a video production gig; or goes back to dentistry. Keep up the good work young lady. At this rate in a few years Shane will be asking you how to do things! LOL

I am interested in a building a Quonset on containers as you have done, you did a great job and I really appreciate the video. I am wondering if you had to have an engineer sign off on the container carrying the weight of the load. Perhaps someone could chime in as to my concern, I am in upstate NY so we do have snow load in addition to the building weight. Thanks so much!

We did have to get an engineer to sign off on the attachment to the containers, and the “anchoring “ of the containers to ground, seems they were more worried about the wind blowing it away then anything. I mean you look at container ships, they stack them things 20+ high so the weight rating shouldn’t be an issue. I really like the overall design would definitely recommend

Also there was a really high snow rating for it!

we built one on a 6 foot wall of concrete. well actually 4.5 feet..We started the half rings and when they were all built we had two concrete trucks to a side. They poured into valley that walls were set in vibrated them so they were airless or bubbleless went from one end to other end of building. did one side and then did otherside at the same time. so concrete was all done in a matter of 25 minutes. then we built the end walls after concrete hardened put door on one end and in less then 5 days we were done with 170 foot long building 45 foot wide. lots of luck. we humped butt to get ours done.

Wow thats awesome! If we had longer days it would be really helpful! Thanks for the good luck wishes!

So, on the first ring, did you do two sides at the same time and meet in the middle or one side all the way across?
@BellsFarming10 ай бұрын
We did each side and met in the middle. We also put up the first piece of the second hoops to help stabilize that first full one as it went up. Worked great! We are moving along now. We got 5 done yesterday, we are at 17 total now I thing. ( yesterday is not in the first video, I am two days behind on footage)

Is the snow coming off the roof going to affect the integrity of the roof of the shipping container?
@shanebell958910 ай бұрын
I don’t think so, they stack those containers dozens high on ships, few lbs of snow shouldn’t bother

five buckets of bolts... is that too many or not enough? only time will tell!

Hahah I hope to many! Thank you for watching!

Should be wearing fall restraints. That height could seroius unjure or kill you. I have a 40 foot antenna tower and I would never not wear one while doing maintenance on the tower. I rent a 35 foot lift and still wear one. Its all about safety. Those are huge panels.
@shanebell958910 ай бұрын
The lift has guardrails/ it’s a scissor lift so don’t need to worry about catapulting like if it were a boom lift
@BellsFarming10 ай бұрын
The lift did not come with harness. Yeah they are pretty heavy. But we seem to be managing just fine. Thanks for watching!

How are you handling the water runoff over top of the containers?
@shanebell958910 ай бұрын
I tried to angle the containers ever so slightly out, but the building will be sealed watertight where it meets the container anyway
@barrydarnell974810 ай бұрын
@@shanebell9589 good plan, ideally 1/4” per foot. They aren’t heated so you aren’t likely to get much ice damming but could from sun melting. Sealing it is certainly wise, looking great! Retired GC here. 😁

You know the old question, how do you eat an elephant? It's coming along nicely. Have a link to where you purchased this?
Question for you. What is the cost of this building? Couldn't you come out cheaper and more sturdier, from the wind, and elements, if you just put up a large inexpensive steel building?
@shanebell958910 ай бұрын
This building really fit our needs, especially with ability to store stuff separately in the containers, and as far as cost vs a steel building, this required 0 concrete. With 4’ frostline concrete adds up quick
