The 6th street Mulberry I can preach by experienced of how good of a rootstock it is for nematodes. Craig found a winner, he told me he noticed this variety growing at a street called “Sixth street,” and named it that (fun fact).

Pete, what is the best fig variety for Southwest Florida? Do all varieties get attacked by nematodes?

I just bought a 60 gallon jaboticaba in south Florida a week ago. It was covered in fruit but boy is it expensive.

@@PeteKanarisGreenDreamsFL I meant to say 2 to 3 inches long I Musta had my earpiece on when I was talking at the time but anyway the mulberry bushes they have in Syria they have 2 to 3 inches long and they’re about a half inch wide. He showed me pictures so I believed him when he showed me that and I said want to bring me a piece from the tree so we can grow it here….

Bought a tithonia, kenaf hibiscus and some fakahatchee grass about 4 months ago and all three are exploding. Tithonia is already over 6ft tall and the kenaf is almost 7. Just wondering if I should crop the top of my kenaf to make it bushy or let it do its thing and leave it alone

Love the Cranberry Hibiscus but can't get it thru winter here in 9a, NorCali. Guess annual it will have to be, it's beautiful and thrives in mostly shade which is good for me.
@PeteKanarisGreenDreamsFL Жыл бұрын
It might even re seed itself in Spring
@docgrowsfood Жыл бұрын
I’ve had good success propagating the cranberry hibiscus from cuttings (rooting in water, then potting up in soil). I bought the original plant from Pete this last March and now have several propagated cuttings growing in the ground and more on the way in a vase. You could take rooted cuttings in a pot indoors in the winter and plant them outside in the Spring.
@Mrbfgray Жыл бұрын
@@docgrowsfood Appreciate the advise, may try that but I trimmed back two large (say 1" plus trunk size) plants last fall, potted them, put one on covered front porch and other inside with indoor plants, both died. Somethings just don't work for me, really wanted Barbados cherries but repeatedly failed with them, for example, even while successfully growing many things that should roughly coexist climate wise. Think I'll start some C. Hibiscus from seed going forward to keep costs minimal, I'll try again to winter them over inside too. Thanks!
