The problem with Shipt is that they may not and most likely won’t tip. I learned this quickly. The only thing I will do on Shipt is delivery only and the dollar to mile ratio has to be good. If they tip me on top of that great and if not oh well. I don’t expect to get tipped here since the customer “tips” after the fact so most likely you get nothing

Also it’s not always a side hustle but many times a person’s main source of income. Some people have no choice but to rely on these “gig” jobs since they offer flexibility. There was a period of time when I had to because of an issue I had with transitioning my kids to a daycare full time. My hours were very sporadic and therefore it was a struggle finding any job. Tipping is really, REALLY appreciated

I felt the same way when I start doing Shipt. (Still lowkey questioning the money. Lol) I’ve been doing Shipt for a few months. Unless the order is at least $14 and the customer tips, it’s really not that great. And tips will sometimes come a month later. I’ve had customers add items before I even got to the store and several items once I’m in the store. out of the 266 shops I’ve had, only 3-4 payments were increased for items. Shipt and the customers want you to go above and beyond, leisurely shop, drive far distance, be patient but also hurry up all at the same time. For what I think, isn’t enough pay. (I’ve gotten better with cherry picking). I’ve been doing DD since 2019. I haven’t made good money on DD since. Id rather shop than delivery hot food. I make more money and spend less on gas doing shipt. I have more control of the quality of service I can give (I have no control over hot food given to me cold. Also have no control over out of stock items. However, the customer tends to understand “this item is now out of stock” better than “the food was sitting out when I got there/ I didn’t make the food”) Also a shipt order being passed on to another shopper is less detrimental than food orders being passed on/late during a lunch hour).

@@luxuryqueen42 ppl think gig apps can replace a full time job...it just dont work that way if you dont wanna struggle. These ppl will sell you a fantasy that dont exist. I seen so many ppl quit my job to do gig apps full time same way i did, 100% of ppl with bills came back cause those days you make 5 an hour are way more plentiful then good days. You make 15-25 for sure. I tell ppl quitting now, youll be back 🤣

I would say that 95% of my SHIPT customers did tip. The tips came in hours to a few days after I delivered. However, because of the substitutions and add-ons for medium to large orders as most of them were, I was not making hourly what I make with food delivery.

Ok I finally been on it for a while. The are some issues I have. 1) the customers are more demanding and stricter with their ratings(for the shop orders I accepted) 2) I feel that the drivers who have been doing it for years know all the addresses and who tips and who doesn’t and who gives 5’s and who doesn’t. This is HUGE because Shipt is very strict on ratings and it becomes a huge battle if you accept a wrong order. My advise to you is if you try to communicate with the customer and you get no response and you just get that bad feeling have support unassign it. No bonus or delivery is worth a one star. One potential good thing about Shipt is balloon orders. You can get a 3 mile for 7.00 and a tip is just icing on the cake. Best But packages are great if you are multiapping and you have a few hours to deliver them. Only do Best Buy packages if they are going to locations where you go to on food delivery. If you do a shop and deliver order try to get it done asap and then turn on other apps to see if you can get a food delivery to go with that. As long as you deliver on time is what matters

Try and claim multiple orders each hour and look logistically where they’re located so you know you can deliver on time. If you do these things enough people will tip to balance it all out. Only running 1 order an hour does not pay enough.

Balloon deliveries are the best tips and easiest Shipt gigs if you live near Party City. Just make sure they bag them and then add weights to the bag so you can see when driving. Customers are always in a good mood for those. $$

Correct, I do uber, uber eats, lyft, and just started doing shipt today. I did one for $9, and another for $10. On the $10 one, i took like an hour and then have to send pics for subsitutes and have to wait for their response and all and they didnt even tip. I was early for both and all. Hell No! I find uber eats is the one thats better. I could have done those $19 on uber eats in 25 mins or so.

Sometimes tips come in a week later, even had them up to 3 weeks. Also, Target orders have the highest chance of no tips in my experience. I take a picture of subs and move on to the next product so I won’t drain time waiting for a response. Also, after multiple items with out of stocks and sun pictures I sometimes just refund a item if it’s out of stock. Customers assume there is no replacement similar or you would have sent a picture of replacement items like you did for the other items. There’s ways to cut corners

At times what I’ve realized is that the tips will come in late especially if you’ve modified the order on behalf of the customer. Shipt will intentionally hold tips for days or The customer will tip later sometimes up to a week or two. Sad to say location does matter some may not think twice but it does matter

I've been doing shipt since summer 2019. I took precise notes on every delivery and it paid off. I learned the averages on each tipper, also who doesn't tip, tip percentages, recorded it on the map addresses. So I know how I'm gonna make out when I accept offers. I do take chances on addresses I've nvr done, some of which proved to be an awesome risk.

I’ve had my account for two weeks & haven’t taken a order yet. They’re usually around $6-$10 & I don’t find it worth it for the time. So far I make that with a doordash order, except less time. I see so many shipt orders for 30 plus minutes, that only pay $6-$10.

With all these apps… hate to say it bc I’d like to be there for everyone…. Stay in neighborhoods where ppl have the money to spend…. Like if I deliver to a low income area , Ik I’m not getting a tip, but then u also have to be more professional, they expect u to communicate really proper & etc. but I make bank in rich white suburbs (sorry it is what it is & he asked) a lot of them are so busy they’re happy for the help & have the money to throw at u. My first ever Uber order was a 18$ small coffee less then 2 miles away #mustBEnice I love driving those neighborhoods at Xmas too, it’s so beautiful

Most of my tips come from low income customers. Those people in the big nice houses usually don't tip or tip very low.

It's the sweet spot of the middle/upper class neighborhoods that usually tip well. The low income customers tip sometimes and the rich either tip very low or nothing at all. It's those middle and upper class grocery orders where you're going to see the best tips.

First you got review the orders to see if it’s worth it. If someone else claims before you then so be it. Second make sure your sending messages through out the entire order (greeting , order completed, arrived). Lastly make sure you maintain 5star or as close to a 5star rating as possible. If a customer falsely rates you wrongfully apply for rating forgiveness one time for that exact rating. It might take a week or 2 but it’ll be worth it highest rating highest amount of orders you see first. (Also stick to stores you know if you can I did 3 orders last night and got $69)

I did Shipt for 3 years and honestly this gig has gotten worse. At first it was great! Support and pay were very good but now, you are lucky if anyone at support answers you and the pay has been cut by more than half. Total garbage... Also, they are losing customers like CVS, Party City and Sprouts. Instead of moving forward and growing, they are collapsing.

If I end up saving a person money on shipt…. I find a better deal or it’s cheaper IRL… I’ve had two ppl round up & give me the remainder. Also give them good substitutes & choices with that. (Like, the money they would have spent) Sometimes I send a picture. Like lady wanted a flat iron it was sold out so I sent a pic of what they did have. Ppl seem to like that

It depends on the order. With food… you need to know your restaurants and the best days/times. With Shipt.. kinda the same. Door Dash doesn’t allow tipping after. GrubHub does. Shipt also allows for tipping after. They all have their pros and cons.

I like not having to drive as much, & I’m never more then 10 minutes from home. I think ppl are more understanding bc it doesn’t have to be hot n fresh. Thing I hated about Uber eats was when ppl tried to scam for free food & give u bad ratings. I set a timer tho… if I would stop talking to everyone in the store (FML) it’s about accurate

I’m averaging 17$/hour right now… but before this I was a homemaker…. I know all these stores SUPER well…. At the same time idk there’s 3 diff kinds of KALE…. 😂😂 u have to plan your route thru the store & know them well. I’ve only did this like a week, I hope I get faster.
