Hi Jen! 5 year Shipt veteran here. A couple of things for you: Customers can pretip and when they do, that tip comes thru 2 hours after drop off. Also, at least in my area (Charleston, SC) some forget and when they log back in to place their next order they are reminded and tip then. I have had tips come in weeks later....haha. Also, in my area, those of us who do both Shipt and IC feel the customers on Shipt are much "higher quality" customers. I personally like Shipt way better than IC! Good luck to you!!

I agree with what Nadean posted. I do IC and Shipt. I day same day I had the same customer on both apps. His personality was actually different per the app. My shopping style did not change. I communicate the same way on both apps. I found that interesting.

I've worked for Shipt for 1.5 years, and I left a higher paying job for it. The ability to work when I want, where I want and that I can be myself (no uniform) is so liberating.

@@beccabell1850 don’t exaggerate what you make it’s so sad I’ve been hustling on multiple apps and I’ll give it to you straight if you’re lucky you’ll run into $50 tips but that very very rare it’s more like $2-$10 if at all and there are those customers that think they are doing you a favor after the gas and maintenance on your car and thanks to this garbage president and the democrat plantation we make even less now I’d say your average pay will be between $10-15 per hour sometimes more and sometimes less . If you run into a problem that happens often you will make $10 an hour like not being able to contact support to cancel an order because the items are out of stock thanks again to the democrat plantation remember this always shop in wealthy neighborhoods even if you have to travel to get there and except additional orders unlike what Jen did in this video that way your double your money it is frustrating to hear people exaggerate their pay it brings a lot of people to the app which results in us making less thanks for your time

As a shipt customer, I like that I can label a shopper as my preferred shopper. I’ve been doing this for almost 2 years and I’ve mostly had good experiences. I think I only rated 1 shopper at a 4/5, in the entire 2 years, when I place orders between 1-2 times a week. And that was because it just wasn’t a good experience. I felt bad but it needed to happen. Anyway, I’m always happy to see that my preferred shopper selects my order about 75% of the time. He’s the only one I picked to be my preferred shopper because by now, he knows my wants/needs and barely has to ask. I always tip in the app, but around Thanksgiving and Christmas I’ve left him an envelope with cash, totaling around $50 each time, with a Christmas card. I do want to make sure my tips are fair. I do have a lot of repeat shoppers select my orders so i’m not sure if they keep track of who tips well and who doesn’t tip, but it’s usually between 4 people. Please let me know what an acceptable tip would be if you were to accept these orders. But first, I will give some background info: -My orders range in price from $75-$150 and I will place 1-2 orders a week. -I live about 2 miles from the store -From the time someone starts shopping my order, to the time they drop it off, it will take anywhere between 30-60 min max. -My order might state that there is 30 items, but a lot of the time, I will buy 2-3 of each items so they are really only having to go down 3-5 aisles. -To show cost of living/wages around where I live, I’m an RN, for almost 4 years now, who works 12 hour night shifts and makes $30/hr w/ PRN status…the $30/hr includes the nightshift differential. I plan to list my last 3 orders, labeled as A, B, C…as a shopper, I’d appreciate if you could respond to my comment, and after reading the background info I gave, and details for each order, please tell me what you’d consider a bare minimum tip that would be acceptable, that you could live with, and what you’d consider above average. One last thing, I’m curious how you’d calculate what you think your tip should be. Is it the total dollar amount of the order, the amount of items in the order or the amount of time you put into shopping my order? My last 3 orders…please let me know a bare minimum tip you’d be ok with, and then what you’d consider above average: A. Total was $115.90 w/ tax. 21 item. I mainly got a few juices, a good amount of dairy, some produce and some snacks. By the time he started shopping to the time he dropped them off, it took 30 minutes. B. Total of order 152.51. Number of items 22. Time from start of order to dropping off at my door 45 minutes. C. Total of order $116.75. Number of items in order 18. Time it took from start of shopping my order to drop off 30 minutes. I’d appreciate if any shoppers could respond. Please keep in mind the background info I gave you. I’ll let you all know what I tipped after some people respond. :)

I am new with Shipt. I just started today. I did a large order with approximately 90 items and multiple out of stocks needing substitutions. I spent a long time with this order. It did take longer than expected due to me being new. What does not make sense to me is that this order that cost well over $300 and they did not pretip. I’m wondering if they will even go back and put a tip in. Who thinks this is taking advantage of Shipt Shoppers?

As a Shipt customer, I love it. I like the level of communication. I know that is because every time the app asks for substitution instructions, I tell them to contact me so we can figure out together what I want, and I make it clear as soon as they start that I am blind and need texts that explain in words what my options are, not pictures of the Isles, but between that and great shoppers, I find it a godsend.

Hi Jen. I’ve been in Shipt Shopper since 2017. 3700 completed orders. What you don’t know as a newbie is they changed the pay structure. When I first started the payout was 7.5% +5 dollars of the total amount. So your very first order would’ve been a $27 payout. We definitely depend on tips. Also the tipping window is unlimited. So you can receive a tip months later people have even received tips a year later! Your instincts are very good. With time and experience you will be faster and you will start making relationships with people. That’s when you can make the big bucks because people will definitely tip you more when they get to know you.

Hi Jen, thanks for the video. You picked a great time to start, just before the holidays; people are more generous and grateful. I love Shipt because of the freedom to work when I want, not have to explain days off, not have to deal with office politics, groceries don’t talk back, and every shop is a new adventure, it is never boring! I think of it as a scavenger hunt. There are customers that don’t realize how frantic it can get and like to chat via text taking up precious time, and there are many that completely ghost you (they are the most frustrating). Some days things just don’t go well, but more often it is gratifying work (and it is work). As long as you realize this the good out ways the bad. Good luck, make it fun.!

Shipt tip: you can fix the order to show in aisle order. There’s a way to select that instead of it grouping them into categories. It’s at the top, I believe on the left side. That has always made it easiest and fastest because it puts everything in order so you’re not backtracking a lot.

The time is a suggested time to start shopping, you can start shopping early, & if an order is due between 10-11, you can drop it off at 10 exactly. A lot of times it will say early ok & you can drop it off early. You did a great job!!

I do the customer support for Shipt. No, we aren't scripted. We love talking to you guys. Its the best job I've had. Some of you just call to vent when you're having a bad day and we don't mind that at all. You guys are great. I have only had one young girl get a little crazy with me because she was trying to get a bonus and had one order left to deliver, but that store had network issues nationwide and she expected us to fix it their issue. Lol She asked for my boss and I tried to tell we are contract labor just like you so I have no boss. At that time there was no one to transfer to. I understand she was upset but what can we do about anither companies tech issues? Even if I could transfer her to someone else she wasn't getting that last order checked out. We also don't handle your pay or your "suspensions", you have to email different departments for that. All we can do is handle the orders for that day or when there are safety concerns. You guys are great though, really, talking to you makes for easy work days with no stress.

I have a friend who's been doing shipt for several years now. She really likes it. She has told me it can take weeks for tips to come in as the customers are prompted to tip when they place their next order. She keeps notes on the different orders that she does so that she can know which customers tip and which ones don't so that in the future so she knows which ones to avoid. Shipt actually hired me in March. I got my shipt card the day before my heart attack so I have yet to activate it. It's just been too crazy a year to try a new app but I'm hoping to activate in the new year as my life seems to be settling down a little bit now. I just started shipt. The company pays better. I’ve missed a few tips you were small orders. But I’ve gotten in May 15% tips as well. I’m going to give a shot get to know my customers but so far I see it is very positive.

The thing I like about Shipt is they give you a time frame. They then let you keep taking other orders and many times I can grab a drop off on the way to my original shop. IC forces you to do one at a time.

I love Shipt! I've been at it for about 2 years or so. Shipt, for me, is a great way to make extra money when I need it. I've made as much as $1000 in 1 month. Obviously it depends on the pay for the orders you claim. It also depends on if you have tipping customers or not. After while you'll recognize right away customers who tip and those who don't just by the address. Yes, there are always new customers, but for the most part the same customers use Shipt on a weekly basis. So after delivering to a address moore than once you'll become familiar and know whether or not you want to accept orders for that particular address. I'd say the most important thing is to check the distance of the delivery address from the store you'll be shopping. Sometimes it just isn't worth it. Happy Shipt Shopping!!!!

FYI to those wanting to apply for SHIPT. During the application process you will have to do a video recording of yourself telling them your name and where you live. This would’ve been nice to know BEFORE BEGINNING as I was applying while home sick in bed with a fat lip from an injury. Had I known that, I would’ve waited. I decided to apply at another time.

My SHIPT experience has been great! Been doing SHIPT since July/August. Most of my customers tip and tip well. Plus I have my preferred customers who are my regular customers. So far I love it! I sort by Aisle rather than Category and I run my Target app simultaneously so I can locate some of the tricky items quicker.

But most shoppers are pretty communicative and willing to help me substitute when items are put of stock.

The only downside to Shipt is that it’s a risk with the customer tipping! Having said that, I really do enjoy the platform so much more than Instacart! They are an honest company with Support who actually are accessible! 💛

You're awesome Jen.you definitely got blessed with good customers and great tips.i just started shipt and I only did 3 orders so far,and I just discovered that delivery only orders don't tip because they are not shipt members but they get assigned through the stores they shop at and then are sent to shipt to deliver so they aren't given a chance to tip even if they wanted to.but rather than that as you said I'm new to shipt.also I agree with customer service I called them twice and both times they answered within 30 seconds and they were very nice and helpful so that's definitely a plus.keep us updated and God bless you sister ❤

I did a party city delivery only order once and got tipped immediately after swiping delivered. This only happened once but I met another shopper who was delivering orders from best buy and she told these customers tend not to tip as they tend to think we are best buy employees and not shipt shoppers so that might clarify a little.

If you're early for a delivery, it doesn't hurt to messege them and ask if an early delivery would be ok with them. You wont get in trouble for an early delivery if they agree to it.

This is true! Sometimes they appreciate you offering an earlier delivery because an earlier delivery time wasn't available when they placed their order.

Funny watching your first order with all those toys. I just did a seasonal merchandising position with Mattel and a big part of my job was walking around looking for out of place toys and putting them back in the correct spot. So I definitely understand and now I’m super familiar with all those toys lol.

There are a few that need this, however: Target employees are very helpful and love being so. But please be mindful that YOU are the Shipt shopper and they are not your personal assistant and shouldn’t be asked to fill whole orders for you. I love the this service and appreciate you shoppers I am not able to shop in store due to a compromised immune system and this service is a life saver. I will say that I did once forget to go back to my email after and order to tip and when I did it was a couple days after my order and I felt so awful but I very generously tipped my shopper and gave a great review. I wish there was an alert or something after delivery that would alert you like a text or something to remind “don’t forget to tip your shopper” maybe that would help you receive more tips.

I got approved for Shipt about a month ago (when things started getting ridiculous with IC) but I haven't done it yet, but I definitely think I am going to start as much as tipping after the fact is scary I think with IC people aren't as inclined to tip more after because they already gave a tip so most of the time they don't think to increase it, so at least on Shipt people aren't angry because they're being forced to tip prior to service and can tip based on the actual service!

I've seen shipt tips come through weeks or even a month later ! Keep a log (just name and order last 4) and you can see always tippers, sometimes tippers, and never tippers. Over time, the names of the never tippers will be burned in your memory lol

I will say about the tip as a customer, we have up to 24 hrs to add a tip. I'm disabled and I try to do it quickly but I want to check my items first. I m.j at not be feeling well after putting groceries away so I try to remember to tip ASAP after delivery.

I do want to say this be very careful with customers and ratings because unfortunately I got deactivated from Shipt because of it and I know I did a great job and caused no trouble from them. Rating threshold is a 4.7 anything under that can get you deactivated. I hope Shipt works out well for you Jen unfortunately it didn’t work out for me.

I love Shipt. 3 years here. Miss the old pay structure but I have a lot of member matches so I make really good money in the 20 hours I work every week. You did a great job on the toy order. I rarely take those because they can turn into a really lengthy shop. I work in Alabama where the HQ is and sometimes deliver to those who work at HQ. We have also had a couple of events where we can meet shoppers from all over.

Just started a KZbin channel called Philadelphia Walks. Best of luck to you. Target is easy on food ...isles labeled for you and it gets very easy. I got approved back around July and the orders were not good back then. Most orders I was getting like $8 from Shipt and vast majority of customers did not tip. But in general there was just barely any work available. The MOST I got was a $5 tip. I decided to try again before I go back to the corporate world after I finished a seasonal position and both IC and Shipt looked crazy busy. I did just 3 orders last week and got a tip from every customer. Most seem to be tipping about 10% (still better than IC tips) and I already got a request to be a preferred shopper for one of the customers.

I think your communication and friendliness plays a huge role! I get great tips often but I am willing to give suggestions and go above and beyond in customer service. This generally leads to amazing tips maybe there are areas you can approve in?

I also do shipt. I have gotten tips a month later. There is a good likelihood that the prepay won't tip, and delivery only never tip where I am at. Also, there is not a costco agreement in my area, so...a little more work. But, getting a preferred shopper request is a day maker especially if they are a good tipper.
