It's a general rule that your starter base will always be built on a map's edge boundary, cutting it in half. There is no minecraft code or feature that tells it to do this, for some reason that's just how it always is.

@taz1607 for bedrock. Just use 9 dirt blocks, place them above your character, and shovel out the middle one. This will create an air pocket. I just realized that, at least in the early episodes, you always click and drag items around from chests and in your inventory instead of shift clicking or using hot keys, just like a new player would do. I think that's so welcoming, instead of doing things really fast like an experienced player would that a new player wouldn't necessarily be able to follow, or would be turned off from because they don't know what you're doing or how you're doing it. It just shows how much thought you put into the experiences of new players and how to familiarize them with the game without overwhelming them with information. 😊

For anyone playing Bedrock, I have a useful tip when it comes to map! Just make the cartography table first, because then you can put 1 paper in it and obtain an empty map! Add a compass to it and Ta-da! You got an empty locator map! It saves a lot of ressources, especially if they are scarce!

There are actually two more uses for diamonds, that are often overlooked. One is trading with villagers, though the exchange rate is 1:1, so really not worth it unless you have an automated way to mine diamonds and don’t know what to do with them anymore. The other use is crafting a bit more fancy fireworks than your regular rockets. Those are consumed when used, so also a use you really want to make sure you want.

I'm a big fan of maps, starting from when I used to play bedrock on the Xbox. If you check 'starting map' in bedrock during world creation, it gives you a size '3' map (equivalent of expanding three times in java). I got used to having one, so it's one of the first things I do once I have enough iron and redstone to spare in Java. You didn't cover duplicating maps, yet! That's important if you're a big map user, so you can share with a buddy or have a map up at home while you carry around the copy. There's also banners for marking places.

Shipwrecks are one of my favourite things in Minecraft! Usually the first thing I do in a new world these days is to craft a boat and find the nearest ocean to explore, before I even have any gear. I can then gear up as I go, because shipwrecks give you food, armour, iron, everything you need early on (except wood and cobblestone). Of course I do use a bundle datapack which helps a lot with the clutter that you end up picking up.

I've also finally learned my lesson with ocean ruins. As tempting as it is, it's just not worth going into those too early. It's just too risky. I can deal with one trident guy, I can now usually even deal with two trident guys at the same time, but sometimes there are three or more.

When looking for a buried treasure you can align yourself near the x, press f3, look at your chunk coordinates and position yourself so that your chunk coordinates are x=9, y=itdoesntmatter, z=9. Buried treasures are guaranteed to always spawn there. another tip is that some items in the game can be replaced with mods. some are night vision being replaced by fullbright (i recommend boosted brightness or tweakeroo), spyglasses being replaced by zoom mods (i recommend essential because it has other good features), and maps being replaced by world map mods (i recommend xaero’s world map and minimap because they work well together).

If you have enabled the Experimental features on Java to have bundles, a clock and doors will fit in a bundle. The clock will continue to tell the time properly. And you can pull the doors out for a quick air pocket under water. For those complaining about the map edge messing with their bases, build using the chunk layout to avoid that. Press the keys F3 and B on Java to show chunk boundaries. Align to those to avoid messy map problems. On Bedrock? Good luck.

Fun fact: On Bedrock Edition seeds, Strongholds and Buried Treasure Chests are MORE frequent than on Java Edition. Of course the trade-off is that Java Edition seeds has more Nether Fortresses, Woodland Mansions and Ocean Monuments than Bedrock. If you check out your seed on Chunk Base, you can definitely tell the difference in terms of structures on both editions. The reason why Strongholds are more frequent on Bedrock is pretty much HOW they're generated. Java generates Strongholds based on distance from your World Spawn and the distance is pretty much on sectors of circles with 8 circles in total and a total of 128 Strongholds can generate within 25,000 blocks in ANY direction from World Spawn. The most amount of Strongholds on one of those rings is 36 on the 7th ring which is roughly 20,000 blocks. It goes like this; 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, 28, 36 and 9. Bedrock Edition doesn't have that limitation and can spawn practically randomly... but the tip with Bedrock Edition's Strongholds is that they usually generate under some Villages and sometimes poking out on the Ocean Surface. The Spiral Staircase is typically what is used as the beginnings of how it is generated, which means that having a Stronghold generated without the End Portal Room is quite rare. Bedrock's Strongholds can generate anywhere below ground without no limit. Java is limited and strict on Stronghold generations.

Something that I always do is make sure that I broke the hidden treasure chest, is something that I least to my experience prevents that this particular chest doesn't come up on other treasure maps in the future

I'm pretty sure that has been disproven many times since treasure maps were added.

Would have thought that you would talk about the villager cartographer block with your map making- using the table to make a map only uses one paper instead of eight

You can also place mobs on boats, so you can now finally have chicken on a (bamboo) raft in minecraft

Treasure maps are fantastic. For 1.20, I decided to try making a mega map for the first time. Treasure maps are like a free resource that is also in character because it's a puzzle. Where did this map take me? How does it fit into my world map?
@VulpisFoxfire
@VulpisFoxfire Жыл бұрын
You did miss the third function of the cartography table, cloning: If you put a map into the table (either partially explored, fully explored, or locked...I'm not sure if it works with the special maps like Buried Treasure) along with an empty map, you end up with two copies of the map in it's current state.
@Pixlriffs
@Pixlriffs Жыл бұрын
True, but I'm pretty sure it works the same way in the crafting table too. So while it would've been a good idea to show how to duplicate maps, I don't think it's a unique function of the cartography table. Kinda like how you can repair two unenchanted tools in a grindstone, which is also possible in a 2x2 or 3x3 crafting grid

@@Pixlriffs Hmmm. Point, though a quick mention of how to duplicate maps would still have been useful.

Wow!!! In my Bedrock version of this seed, that first ship wreck you find is floating about 10 blocks out of the water and upside down with only about a third of the boat there and no chest!!!

in my survival world i found a shipwreck that was completely buried in sand and stone. from ground level it just looked like two oak logs sticking out of a beach. it had three chests with some pretty good loot, but sadly no armor trims

I wanted to go kill one of those llamas for the leads, then use the lead on the other llama and tame it, then put a chest on it and see how many items it could hold. Am I a bad minecrafter to think this way? Possibly, but that's one way to gets leads. Stay frosty!
@waveclaw
@waveclaw Жыл бұрын
Did you see the commentary and video on trader llamas? You can make a boat and put the llamas in it to get the leeds without killing them. Using the leed on the llama will take it back out of the boat. Llamas are easy to tame while in a boat, unlike horses, donkeys or mules. Those creatures won't get in boats on Java edition. You can slowly farm up max-carry-size trader llamas this way. The trader llamas have unique skins when carpets are placed on them. They also count toward breeding creatures if you use hay blocks on them. They do spit at hostile mobs, so beware that they can suicide themselves against pillager patrols or well-armored skeletons.

Pixlriffs if you add a gold template on other materials piglins in the nether will still accept it and won’t attack you

Can you still upgrade armor that already has been trimmed, e.g. to Netherite? I haven't played around with armor trims myself, yet, but this is the one thing I wonder the most when it comes to trims and how upgrading Diamon armor now works.
@Pixlriffs
@Pixlriffs Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is still possible to upgrade trimmed Diamond armour to Netherite. It should keep any trim designs that were applied to it before the upgrade. Upgrading to Netherite now requires a separate Smithing Template though, you'll find it in Piglin bastions. We'll cover that in future, although probably not this week!

Is the cartography table not useful in Java edition? Instead of paying that much paper for a map, pay 2 for a cartography table and the just one per map

@Pixlriffs

After duplicating the smithing template and using one diamond on trim colour this episode, I actually don't. I guess I do have some silk touched diamond ore in a chest, but it's stone diamond ore, so I'm saving that because it's less common. We'll get full diamond soon, no worries

Thank you. I found nearby my village a nether portal and treasure chest. But they were both underneath a sheet of ice in the icy spikes biome and I got shooed away by an angry baby polar bear (Long story short, I killed the poor thing's mother to protect myself). Is it safe to go under an ice covered ocean? I was carrying a lot of stuff and didn't want to lose all the tools I was carrying.

Never see the point of the armor trim which this update revolves around. In single player its pointless.
