Lore wise, the furtive pygmy is supposed to be the strongest as all main playable characters are his descendents. The ashen one being the last playable characters means that he's the strongest playable character. Gael is on par with the chosen undead who's basically the soul of cinder. May not reflect in the gameplay (health scaling of the dlc) but according to the lore, Gael is just an undead powered up by the dark soul who's more than capable to link the flame if given the opportunity. It should also be noted that Gwyn and the nameless king are equally powerful (some say that the king is stronger) and Gwyn was the first lord of cinder so the nameless king can hypothetically be as strong as Gael/the chosen undead. Sister fride is an unkindled one, those who failed to link the flame like the ashen one and is canonically weaker than all the lords of cinder.
@jeanniemaycrawford44662 жыл бұрын
Oh, if it weren't for the gods, the dragons would be the strongest. It's like rock paper scissors. Dragons weak to gods gods weak to humans Humans are supposed to be weak to dragons (but dragons can succumb to the dark just like how humans can forget that they have the dark soul)

The second phase is the best duo fight From has made since Orenstein and Smough. I had so much problems with her 3rd phase with dex build. Her 3rd phase is literally bloodborne tempo but DS3 characters are not so fast. It turned out you can stagger her with strength weapon and literally almost mindlessly trade hits with her. Also advantage of a strength weapon for that fight is that when you initiate your hit you cant be staggered by her anymore. So if she hits you while you are trying to hit her, she takes the hit and just quickstep back giving you time to heal.
@voteZDLR2 ай бұрын
2nd phase doesn't really feel like a duo phase. I mean it is, but they share a life bar which I thought was actually kind of odd. If they had separate life bars and sets of HP, I might be more inclined to agree with you, but you split damage between the two of them and before long that phase is over, where you're fighting Friede in the very end no matter what. Still a great fight but IDK if I can agree that it's as good as Ornstein and Smough if only because I have some really, really specific memories regarding that fight and how frustrating it was but the ecstasy I felt when I finally beat it, too. That was the first time I beat a boss in a video game, ever, and actually felt a sense of accomplishment for doing so. That was a HARD fight no matter how you approached it.

Interesting, my perspective was that I thought that in the paintings when the fire doesn’t alight the world, it grows cold and stagnant and everything begins to rot… essentially the opposite to what the first flame does to lothric. And she is preventing change and fire to the painted world because she is traumatized by her failure to link the first flame and she has denounced and lost everything including her faith in the sable church and abandoned her two little sisters. She thinks she is doing right but esentially is causing the painted world to rot, hence why the father is chained to that chair? I could be totally wrong

When I fought Malenia, I was reminded of Sister Friede. Both are duelists that can either be patient or overwhelmingly aggressive, but also can be staggered and punished. Although I have to say, I preferred Sister Friede just because the amount of damage she does is a lot more reasonable. That compared to how Malenia can just kill you with 2 or 3 attacks, which to me seems like a crappy punishment to add challenge. Some of Malenia's attacks are confounding in how you have to position and time your dodges. Her life steal effect I could deal with if that wasn't a problem. Malenia was just too unforgiving and unfair, even by Souls games standards. But Sister Friede gives you clear ways to understand the fight, and doesn't completely screw you over if you make a mistake since it's only her biggest attacks that will knock off most of your health.

Literally better than every single boss in Elden Ring, Friede makes them look like they are from Dark Souls 2.

I think you’re taking it too far with that one. We haven’t even seen any DLC’s yet for Elden Ring.

@@eligreg99 This is a great stupidity. The studio's most ambitious game with the biggest budget, a difference of 6 years with DS3 can't beat the boss at the age of 5 years? By the way, some Sekiro bosses from the base game could already do this. That's because the average quality of the bosses of these two games is much higher than the bosses of Elden Ring.

I think this fight was so difficult in the moment because most of us were on NG+4 or higher when the dlc finally dropped. Looking at this fight post elden ring, there’s a few fights much tougher than this one. DS3 mechanics also held us back. If we could jump and slash like in elden ring she’d get stagger locked to death and be nothing more than a dungeon boss.
@buffoonustroglodytus46882 жыл бұрын
«If this was elden ring» already that’s a shitty argument. You could use that same nonsensical argument about elden ring too, or any game for that matter. «Oh yes melania is hard but only because elden ring mechanics hold u back. If this was sekiro u could just deflect every attack and then delete her health bar in one critical hit. It would be like a miniboss if this were sekiro!» Oh yeah and if I had wheels I would have been a bike. Utter nonsensical reasoning.
@wahyudiiskandarzulkarnain02322 жыл бұрын
It isn't that DS3 mechanics held us back, but Elden Ring was the one that expanded it. Like @Buffoonus Troglodytus said although rude, he has a point.

Friede's third phase is such a cool fight, her moves are a sight to behold and she's incredibly challenging yet still absolutely fair. This is what the Malenia fight in Elden Ring should've been like, but instead we got a boss that heals herself with every hit and has one move that can literally end your run if you don't know the frame perfect dodging technique that few people can master. Sister Friede is a fun fight, Malenia isn't. When you finally beat Friede you feel an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and pride and all you can think is "What an epic fight that was!" whereas with Malenia all you feel is relief because you somehow survived and don't have to fight her again and you're just thinking "I'm glad that's over, I never wanna fight her again."
@ccl31302 жыл бұрын
This is exactly how I felt. Friede has long combos and devastating attacks that give you a huge window to punish if you manage to dodge, and she has a lot of weaknesses to balance out her strengths. Malaria? She can just chain her attacks with no room for retaliation if you get bad rng. Low poise? Gone in phase 2. Backstab? Nope. Parry? You have to do it 3 times to get a single reposte because why not. And of course, the life leech that goes through shield even with 100% physical protection. But it's ok because she undresses herself people will simp for her anyway.
@johndeighan24952 жыл бұрын
I get that; but Malenia is an optional boss. She’s there, I think, for players who want to test themselves past the point of fairness.
@SoloPlayerSama2 жыл бұрын
I agree whole heartedly. Melania- as cool as she looks, is an absolutely garbage and unfun fight.
@malek00932 жыл бұрын
@@johndeighan2495 True, but she could've been designed to be a tough but fair fight, like the Nameless King from DS3, he's optional, and he's by far the hardest boss in DS3's base game, yet fighting him still feels fair (at least compared to Malenia).
@aidansilli42572 жыл бұрын
Eh, while I still vastly prefer friede, malenia was a great fight. As someone who died 115 times to her, the only thing I hate about the fight is waterfowl dance when she does it close to you. I can consistently dodge it if I am away from her, but you need to be almost frame perfect to dodge it up close. I don't necessarily mind the healing mechanic or the fact that she has few weaknesses because the fight demands mastery. I wish I liked her as much as Friede or Maria, who are my favorite bosses in all of gaming, but I still think she is enjoyable.
