I’m sorry, but GameFreak has been doing the absolute bare minimum for decades now. Not just the performance of this game, but the derpy artstyle with the weird looking 3D models. If they’re not going to do it like the show. I’d rather see them go back to sprites. I think the same artstyle as Octopath Traveler would do them a lot of good! You still play on people’s nostalgia, but at the same time it’s fresh, beautiful, and unique. The old sprites had way more personality than these derpy 3D models. And the world just seems so bland and lifeless.

3D models have more life than sprites. Pokémon is the opposite. Distant Kingdom touched on the draining of life from sprites to models. Some 3D models work, like Hitmontop. Game Freak refuses to utilize the work made by Genius Sorority in theirs. Colosseum, Gale of Darkness, and Battle Revolution made 3D models with proper scaling on weaker hardware than the Switch. Legends Arceus was a beacon of light… but SV makes Sonic 06 look like a masterpiece by comparison. Game Freak is only able to do the bare minimum because they got away with it for 5 generations, because sprites are low effort yet max creativity, but the Pokémon and story writing was excellent when it hit Platinum up until ORAS. Game Freak also has a problem of putting incapable people of directing a team in charge of projects and TPC has been making very bad decisions lately involving the franchise it was formed to manage. The anime in English is further behind Japan and the generations than ever before, the deadlines for video games, and refusal to outsource work to fans that have proven to have made better games on budgets thinner than spider thread. It’s going to take a major misstep in order for Nintendo to put its foot down to protect the reason its consoles sell in the first place.

It’s ridiculous how reviewers keep trying to justify their shortcomings by saying they’re “heading in the right direction”. When we’re talking about a multi-billion dollar company that has endless resources and funds to make their games. They have no reason to be “Heading the right direction” they should’ve already mastered their craft. I’ve seen reviewers 100 times harder on developers with no previous experience with games 10 times better than this crap, and you won’t see them getting an 8.

They took Pokemon in a new direction having you play Trials,battle Totem Pokemon,Z Moves and the new Pokemon were varied and had awesome designs. All of this mind you ,on a 3DS. GF has noooooo excuses for the drivel they've been putting out since Sun and Moon and as a long time fan since Red........i'm very disappointed with these last few titles.

I'll go back to playing my Pokemon Shield and finish out the Crown Tundra until they fix all the graphics issues with this one. It looks like it was a rushed release. Not a fan of the direction the franchise is going. Hope we are not seeing the decline.

A review copy. Those are purposely made last. The hard copies are made months in advance and mass produced, so there are problems. And the Switch isn’t very powerful, no matter which model or year either was made.

I'm currently playing, and it sometimes feels like an acid trip when you are approaching a small hill or mountain base, and the soil morphs before your eyes. Also, when you use the ride aspect, I've gotten stuck, and it had to cut screens to get me back on my feet so to speak. Personally, I like how Legends Arceus was designed with the rideable Pokemon , and the design of the slopes and world. I also wish that S/V kept the same point and aim for targeting to battle wild Pokemon. Atleast an option to throw items would be helpful.

I’d recommend black/white. Older gens can be confusing imo. Your best bet for these DS/DSI games are knockoffs though sadly. (Still the same game, just a fraud cartridge, works as long as you don’t try to transfer Pokémon out of the game)

I used to love classic Digimon but their designs went all over the place just after 2 generations in. Tamers were so good until that moment when the tamers fused with their Digimon. That ruined everything for me, then Frontier came where everyone was doing that sh*t. The inconsistent design of Digimon bothers me too. I remember when I was playing Next Order, I kept using classic Digimon - because their designs were more consistent and the newer ones are just so messy and overdesigned - until when I got curious with Machinedramon's digivolution. I digivolved it and 100% regret my choice. Chaosdramon looked so off. Menacing colors but the physique was not as good as Machinedramon's. and then the cute eyes???? Stats-wise, it's an upgrade, but design-wise, it's just bad as hell.

I just can’t seem to like this generation of Pokémon. I’ve been trying to get hooked but it’s a no go for me man!! Which absolutely sucks. I will have to wait for next gen and hopefully they make a come back. Pokémon legends of arceus is 100x better than this. Graphics and battle style were my favorite thing from legends and it’s sad how this game just looks so cheap graphically and the colors look so dull and glitchy. The battle style in this game looks absolutely horrendous. They should have kept legends style of battle. It was way more interactive and exciting. I’m just venting because i can’t stand this game and the fact that I can’t seem to like it. I gave Pokémon sword and shield a shot and I absolutely loved that game.. same with Legends. I didn’t like it at first but it easily became my top 3. Oras being my number 1 and USUM being third place. Legends second. I’ll have to wait for next generation. Hopefully they can come up with better designs or maybe even give us another legends type game.
