I like how the real Týr isn't a traumatised pacifist. He has the calm composure and confidence of a warrior who has found peace, but there is a hint in his demeanor that while he has no intent to harm you, he still easily could. I would have loved to have seen him fight.

Yeah. Odins tyr was kinda annoying. I wish we saw more of the real tyr.. Maybe in the future...tho i dont think there will be much more of this story...maybe they should just make more norse mythology games without the god of war (even tho i love the older, dad version of him)

Odin made a mockery of Tyrs peace as Mimir said. Odin is clearly very jealous over the love people had for him and people were willing to show Tyr things that Odin wanted for himself (like the giant eyes for example as well as knowing some of their secrets). Odin knows what he’s doing by making Tyr seem so pathetic. When Atreus walks with him in Asgard he even says “You’re lucky the offer still stands after you freed Tyr, but I suppose his company is punishment itself” and just laughs to himself knowing he’s been acting as Tyr the whole time and disappointing Atreus and Kratos

I am quite certain that Odin intentionally portrayed Tyr as a broken man out of spite, and should he win, he would forever tarnish Tyr's legacy as a coward who was just a shell of his former self. It is more evidently that the real Tyr is every bit as wise and kind as we were told he is. Most likely that a sore loser like Odin would did all that shit just to rub it in Tyr's face because he can't break Tyr's resolve.

From the way he talks about Kratos, about 'remembering him' it sounds like he might remember him for the *wrong reasons* such as him being The Ghost of Sparta that killed a entire pantheon that he had probably visited. In which he might want revenge, and attack him blindly not knowing he changed. By the end of the fight, he might realize how much he changed and that could be the super endgame boss

@@Deadman1000 I highly dislike that part the devs added because how could Kratos NOT know a god-like being visited. I mean in order for Tyr to know Kratos he would have had to have been around while Kratos was murdering his way through the pantheon, but in order for him to find his way onto pottery he would have had to have been there much longer and actually have done something noteworthy for the people to put his image to art. And if he was around while Kratos was doing all that that would be pretty fucking hard to forget. I like my explanation better because him only vaguely recalling the name makes sense if he learned it from the giants.

@@ShiningDarknes Tyr could have gone unnoticed though if he just didn’t interact with the gods. Could be he just went to talk to the mortals for a few days and dipped without anyone noticing. Or just as likely he visited after Olympus fell, saw some cool cultural artifacts and went on his way

@ShiningDarknes 2 жыл бұрын
@@Mani-gp1wf eh, I just think it is more in-keeping with the way this game has presented things for him to be referring to the prophesy paintings than to "That time I once went to Greece after Kratos killed Ares and became the new god of war but before he destroyed that realm and picked up some souvenirs at the local forum." Because that is when he would have had to have gone. It would have had to have been after the first game but before the second since the second is where things start going to shit so you would think it would leave a bigger impression if that is when he visited.

Something that really struck me is when you first meet the real Tyr his first requests are the opposite of what Odin--playing the role of Tyr--requested. Odin-Tyr requested food and wanted to be somewhere cramped (referring to the broom closet, feigning that he would feel more comfortable in someplace like a cell). Real Tyr immediately asked to "have some space," instead, and even refused Freya's offer of food and shelter. Thought that was an interesting detail.

The roles are reversed Odin's Tyr goes "what trickery is this Odin" and worries what might happen to him if Odin catches him. I honestly thought the real Tyr would be the main plot for a DLC. Finding where he is and his reaction to everything, perhaps fixing his temple and bridge and revealing it can be used to travel to other Pantheons outside of the Norse one incredibly easily. He could also have become another companion and perhaps looked after the Realms while Kratos is gone adventuring (ie a future God of War game)

@@BlackHippy313 they can do another game without him killing a pantheon, he didn't really even do that in this game. its one thing to slaughter gods or people that didn't do anything wrong, its another thing entirely when they deserve it or ask for it by picking a fight with kratos. every god or nearly every god in the original games plus these ones either deserved it or picked a fight with kratos, i think few, if any, were innocent. i think if gods commit the same crimes you would kill a mortal for, they should be killed to. i think kratos going to a new pantheon could be a chance for even more character developement, just like this world was. they could retire kratos but it would likely kill the franchise. Atreus is not enough to carry the franchise by himself, at least imo. not to mention they can't call it god of war without kratos, it wouldnt make sense.

Love how Kratos finally has a friend, a real friend, in Freya. p.s. convo at 4:40 puts into perspective just how far Odin went in trying to make Tyr look worse out of just silly hatred. He played him as broken peace-loving idiot, while real Tyr is more of warrior poet than anything.

Kratos himself calling Mimir "brother" back, plus multiple instances of them bonding through complementing each other's wise advices and meaningful conversation. Unquestionably Mimir's friendship takes the "OG real friend" title, by far. Freya didn't even came second in this category, since Brok and his brother both made Kratos and Atreus feel part of their family. That's real friendship. Then Freya eventually earned that spot. My point being, Kratos character development was so masterly crafted through both games that people tend to recall how seemingly easy was for Kratos to disregard any kind of, his, and other people's emotion displays, yet tend to forget why any of the characters loyally and often unconditionally following him as their leader see it as worthy, and not because they would get something in return but because those ARE real friends.
@OneReallyGrumpyJill

@@Brain.Washington Probably should elaborate a bit: I more meant it in a sense of "a friend who is also a warrior and who can just go out and fight dragons with him". Mimir is a friend too, just different kinds for different needs. Tho Kratos, Mimir, and Freya is a golden trio, ngl. I just also loved how there was no romance subtext at all. Surtur and Tyr are so chill, it's chilling. Kratos is calm, reasonable and much more passive than his previous self. Atries is past his rebellious phase, now growing as 'Loki from Jortur". Freya has calmed down, out of her phase for vengeance for Baldur. Ragnarok was one big therapy session for our protagonists. It is like, Greece pantheon was fraught with 'Evil' God's which made Kratos and Demios (Briefly) Angry and rebellious. The Norse, in comparison, is far more sagacious; not 'Evil'. They have their own Garden(metaphor), which makes them worthy of being an adverse for our set of lunatics. Regardless, they are not 'Evil', they seem merely ungratified, flawed beings with impeccable intentions. The Egyptian saga, if it follows the trend set by GOW Series, will feature a lot of polity of Gods as a race above man. Kratos dying after such development by hands of Egyptian pantheon will make him the true God of War. War ends in civilization.

Odin acted the way he did as Tyr so his intent wouldn’t be questioned, Mimir said that. Tyr, as the god of war, may’ve seen many prisoners of Odin’s wars break and had time to collect their coping mechanisms. He’s also seen other cultures’ practices. Another commenter mentions him practicing tai chi. Odin, pretending to be Tyr, says that Odin tortured him in prison; but when Odin is mentioned as an abusive father, it was to bleed use out of Thor. In this video, the characters say Odin had no more uses for Tyr except to keep him alive for magic. Tyr is still shocked, staying alone until he accepts his new life, but we don’t know his real prison experience and he has no big reason to care about Kratos. Odin played a big part because that was his goal.

In 2:40 if they knew that odin was a shapeshifter then why didn’t they think it’s important to mention this sooner in the early game back when they first rescued tyr in the dwarf realm? @@aspart2842 Odin may be able to take their forms but not their memories. Each personality has their own can be easily detected to figure out "who is who?" One wrong move or word then they’ll be under in suspicion that it will be obvious that the relation of the person who you knew in a few years or so that’s acting different will be in no doubt that they’re the imposter. If anything they could wear a certain object to represent they’re the same person or simply make up some secret password they could say to make sure it’s them just an observation for a few bit of ideas if you’re wondering "how or why?"

Imagine how badly Odin impersonated Tyr, when compared to the real one we meet at the end? Tyr is so wise, so uplifting with his words, knew exactly what to tell Mimir to at least a little bit lower his pain about the whale creature, he was paying his respects to his dead comarades. What Odin as Tyr did all the time is brood and put everyone's ideas and plans down.
