So. From what i understood. Ghost of Tsushima is about the journey of a once noble and Honorbound Swordsman slowly turning into a Calculating and Efficient Killer and realizing that it takes more than honor, strength and courage to win a war. It Takes Guts, Ingenuity, Deception and Any Underhanded Tricks Available. Its not about "What must be done." Its about "What *Can* be done."

My granny told me that, he said...soldiers are demon themselves, no more no less...but it’s their choices, they have to, their duty to save those they swore to protect, country that they served, order from comrades. And in the end they lived in darkness. My oldman survive through war, just to be suffering every nightmare. And i wonder how much courage he had to live through all his lost. His place was alway been by his comrades, underground...when thing went well to his childrens, he gone, to find the very last peace by his old-friends. He always told me “War are hell, soldiers are devil...no devil shall leave hell, could never pretend to be normal human being.” All those dirty works he and his friend had done on every missions not for peace, just to protect his last stand.

Just so everyone knows. In the time of the actual invasion, this would have been easily forgiven seeing as how the samurai’s duty really just summed up to serve your lord at all costs. Hell, in both invasions, a big tactic that samurai used was going up to Mongol ships with their small boats at night. And killing Mongols in their sleep or setting the ship ablaze. So in real life, everyone wanted to pull a Jin to win.

Khotun Khan clearly said to Lord Shimura that he had studied the samurai's code courage , honor and loyalty. Khotun Khan uses these code against the samurai knowing that they will charge across the battlefield valiantly. Jin saw this and became the ghost himself. If it weren't for Jin , the Samurai wouldn't have gotten that far.

@maxmillianwiegel1643
@maxmillianwiegel1643 3 жыл бұрын
“By teaching them to fear us?” Shimura may act noble, but he is the grandest fool in this story despite claiming otherwise. As Jin embraces the persona of “the ghost” you can hear the peasantry begin to respect him and honor him more than any other figure. More than the samurai, shogun, and even lord Shimura. What shimura calls honorable, really is pointless moralizing and pride. He may care about these people-in his own way-but he never understood them, never took time to learn about the fears of a peasant or what they think of the system he is a part of. Jin’s answer, as many point out, when he is asked what is honorable, that is to protect his people, was the correct one all along. Shimura-out of weakness-has convinced himself of otherwise.
@jonathanpilcher337
@jonathanpilcher337 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, the main reason for Shimura being so strict is due to the place the Shogun found himself in at the time, his power was weakening and the invasion was weakening it even faster, the last thing he needed was people losing honor, breaking away from the norms and thinking for themselves, and a powerful and highly respected lord on the front lines embracing that, by keeping to the code Shimura was protecting himself

I think that’s the “key” reason why Legendary Gosaku armor was given to the peasant families instead of high ranking families. Jin cared about little guys.... and that’s the reason why he was about transcend level beyond that samurai, ronin as a Ghost. He mention, “All the things he had to do in order to protect his people and homeland.” He literally had to trade in his soul to collect all of the legendary/cursed weapon to fight against mongols. People will talk about hero who save the day, but they will never forget the legends who risk everything to protect their nation. P.S I honestly feel bad for the monks who now have to create a new story about a Ghost samurai who collected all the legendary/cursed weapon and where he had to leave them once he’s gone 😂 lol

Not exactly, you see samurai before the sengoku (and during) are not much more than mercenary hired by the daimyo to keep their land safe (which means act during pillaging-which i remind you include rape and murder of civilians is a ok for the daimyo hiring the samurai) so after the sengoku era are over the shogunate try to civilize these unruly mercenary by making code of virtues (honor). These work so perfectly that by the time of sankoku (closed the country from outside influences-mainly jesuit) the samurai have became one of honor obsessed warrior we know of today...

I did as well. Infact Yuriko even said that Kazumasa would agree with what Jin's doing, while saying that honor wouldn't help win a war. Or something along those lines I don't remember the whole conversation very well lol.

It’s even revealed in a side mission for the Sakai horse armor that Kazumasa wanted to appear like Japan’s mythic gatekeeper of hell (Yama, I think is his name. Some art of him even mirrors Kazumasa in Mythic Tales), which also ties into the Sakai Clan Armor’s appearance.

The voice acting of Ghost of Tsushima is superb, when Jin confronts Ryuzo and Ryuzo tries to convince Jin to take his side and tell his Uncle that he was a spy, trying to get close to Khan to gain his trust. When Jin says “After everything you’ve done!”, you can hear and feel his hatred and anger for Ryzuo and his self conflict whether to help him or not. Throughout the whole game, IMO this scene was the most well acted/voice-acted part of the game, when completing this mission, I actually felt his anger, and it was so fucking captivating.

" By Teaching them to fear? " No, by protecting your people from the mongols that has slaughtered your people so that your people can no longer be afraid of the invasion and the war. The True question is " Do you want to save your people or fight fairly with your enemy even tho they do not care about fairness? " That is why Tsushima lost the war to mongols due to their Samurai codes that has taught them. People are depending on their heroes (Samurais) but ended up getting brutally slaughtered by the mongols during the invasion.

One could argue that this was a failing of the leadership as well. If they were able to properly respond to the invasion, or earn the loyalty of Yarikawa without bloodshed in years prior, or not villify the Ghost so heavily, it would've made the ruling lords appear more competent and effective, eliminating reasons to rebel against them in the first place.

I can respect the point that his Uncle is trying to make, and what he is trying to hold onto, but Jin understands who he faces. He remembers that his Uncle's fiercest ally was burned alive and executed without respect on the beach. Therefore, with lament and a steel resolve, Jin has to learn from who he hates the most in order to defeat him and his forces. To bear that burden alone without forcing others down the same path he follows is still noble.

AGHHH Shimura's greatest flaw was that he wouldn't let Jin be who he truly was. But who can blame him? Jin was basically his son, and he wanted it to work out so badly that he was willing to throw a peasant thief under the bus just so that he could get what he wanted. Why did he have to make Jin choose?? But when you see how close they were with the flashbacks, how true Shimura's love for Jin was, it's absolutely heartbreaking to hear Jin say "I am not your son." Jin had no idea that he was also condemning his uncle to death that day, a death of the soul (and literal death if you choose that route). AGH my heart breaks for Shimura. But at least he came through to fight with Jin at the end battle, so it proved he saw reason in Jin's actions. Shimura is the true tragic figure of this game, a slave.

This game is awesome because there really is no correct answer. While Shimura's plan to retake the castle would've undoubtedly killed hundreds of people and may not have even worked, Jin's plan to use the poison may have temporarily saved his soldiers but costed hundreds of civilians to die to the Mongols' poison. Neither Jin nor Shimura were totally right or wrong.

Ghost of Tsushima is such a great game I understand that a lot Jin's actions can be questionable like the poison and everything and his uncle has good points at the start of the game Jin wants to abide by the Samurai code but throughout realizes that fighting by that code isn't going to work with the enemy he's fighting an enemy whom is ruthless relentless and will do anything to secure victory as we saw throughout the game and especially the beginning and simply living by the honorable Samurai code simply would've led to Tsushima falling

That's actually not why samurai were phased out. Historically, samurai acted a lot like Jin: upholding an idea of honor and principle when they can, fighting dirty and underhanded when they couldn't. The real reason why samurai culture ended was because of the modernization of Japan during the Meiji Restoration. At this time, people in many eschalons of Japanese society questioned why they needed samurai lords when they could just form a centralized government during a time of relative peace. And when the samurai tried to push back against these changes, it only soured the public opinion of samurai further until the social class was dissolved entirely.
