Hello Diane, I have a little problem with this sleeve, I made 4 shirts and one top with this pattern but when I raise my hands my back part get tight with it at shoulder blade portion and I can't move my hands comfortably. I think this sleeve head measurement doesn't work for me. Could I apply your sleeve angle method to reduce sleeve head or could you tell me what is the measurement for bicep so that I can move my hands freely and comfortably ?

Hello, how did you find the notches on your body block? Other videos have shown how the sleeve pattern will determine where the notches are, not the other way around. Thanks!
@DianeDezieltoolfully4 жыл бұрын
Hello Dusty Rau The measurements of the sleeve and the armhole notches definitely come from the bodice. The notches are usually place at the first 1/3 from the under arm point. The idea is to position the notches on the sleeve from the under arm point because you might have some ease at the sleeve head. Diane

Hello Diane! What should I do if my sleeve armhole notches don't match with bodice armhole notches ?
@DianeDezieltoolfully6 жыл бұрын
Hi Pooja, To me, a sleeve belong to an armhole, so you should make a new sleeve as soon as you change your armhole, and the notches comes from the bodice than reporte on the sleeve from the underarm points. Diane

Diane Deziel No no, I mean my sleeves size are ok but when I add 1.5 cm seam allowance on bodice and sleeve armhole both then I have a difficulty in assembling sleeves because 1.5 cm seam allowance increases sleeve curve and like you show in your video of sleeve grading to check if the notch is in right place by pivoting bodice armhole on sleeve armhole that way I check and my notches are not align with other. That's why I ask what I do when my notches are not align with each other or they didn't match. Is it because of seam allowance that my notch doesn't match? (because my armhole measurement is same as bodice armhole but when I do pivoting then notches don't match).

For woman, you must put the same seam allowances on both. For men's shirt the assembling is different, we do flat felled seam at armhole and underarm seam, so I put 1.5 cm at sleeve head and back side under arm, than back bodice side seam. For the sewing, overlap the bodice to sleeve with a 5mm distance, when assembling the armhole, than make the flat felled seam. and do the same way for the underarm seam, overlap front on back with a 5mm distance, than the flat felled seam. Diane

Hello, Diane! I think the bias should be 11 instead of 9.5 because here you take 8 cm slit and then down 1.5 cm for shape on the same line and then 1 cm seam allowance. So the total is 10.5 and then .5 extra that gives us 11 cm bias. Isn't that correct ?
@DianeDezieltoolfully6 жыл бұрын
Yes you're right 11cm THANK YOU
