I know that last one too well. I went on a trip with some friends and where we were staying we ended up in a room with another. The other group had brought some fiber one bars (like two boxes) and everyone in the room has at least like two or three a piece. All those bars eventually caught up with us and someone went in the bathroom and lit it up. 1) The only other way I've heard of getting into E3 for free (if you don't work on a game) is as a college student that is writing about/studying digital media (specifically video games). 2) From the people that I know that have gone to E3 (how I know about getting in as a "media scholar"), you go for the business/interviews and the only reason you get in line for something is to get the swag the first day or two of the convention. Beyond that, most of the stuff that you want to play is not worth the wait.
