A Legendary film in Indian film history. I was in degree first year in Pune and we bunked our classes to watch Shiva. I will say its a once in a lifetime film, everything about this film was fresh and unique to the Indian audience as none of us experienced this kind of film in our lives till then. Shiva ran for 25 weeks and I watched it 28 times in the theatre and a friend of mine watched it 92 times in the theatre, so just imagine the craze of this movie in those days. Nagarjuna sir became a nationwide Superstar with this film.

SHIVA was way ahead of its times in 1990. It is perhaps for the first time action sequences were picturised in raw and realistic manner. The performances were natural with no over the top melodrama. The villan Raghuvaran was very different from the typical VILLIANS potrayed in those times. Raghuvaran was very realistic in the negative role. SHIVA also had chartbuster music. The BOTANY song and ANANDO BRAHMA are my favorites.

Yesterday ,I found a black and white Shiva poster in an old 1990 Filmfare magazine. The poster has silhouettes of Shiva and six men behind him on a railway track. I should send a photograph of the poster to my IPS friend called Shiva who is also a S.P. now.Those days I used to joke that he should study hard and become a police and beat up rowdies like his namesake Shiva. What an unforgettable movie btw. I first watched this hit movie in my town in Manipur in early 90s . Many youngsters took to fighting inspired by Nagarjuna. What great memories this movie brings back.

Amazing move. Although I don't really follow Tamil or any other South Indian actors, but some actors like Nagarjuna are my favorite stars. I watched all his movies in Hindi during my childhood days. Some of the movies like this one "Shiva" were real good action-packed movies. So, he's really a great actor, I'd want to see more, more and more action movies from the 80s and 90s!

This movie has THE BEST Sound design and BGM, specially object sounds.. even in that era.. Truly a banch mark..No commercialisation.. Just pure script, screenplay, direction and of course - acting. The actual movie starts from 27:50 min, The BGM and the eye contact between Shiva and JD.. Wow. The camera work from 31:25 to 32:25 is so insane..
