@TheMetalDestroyerX If you bother to learn the history of raqs sharki you'll find that men have often played a major part in it. A) when the first European tourists began visiting Egypt in the late 19th century, it was reported that the men over shadowed the women in skill. However as the majority were male tourists, the Egyptians wanted to create the Arabian nights fantasy and began bringing women into the light and pushing male dancers out.

@TheMetalDestroyerX B) Mahmoud reda, a male, is the pioneer to belkydancers as u see it today, for he brought folk dance n stylized them for stage..teachers as Mohammad Kazafy, Tito, dr mo gadawi are world famous male teachers. And finally the description of this post clearly states saidi/ dabki fusion. The term bellydance is used as my title

My dance teacher, Joan Stewart taught us women how to dance the dabki. Her mistake, as it is a male dance. I had to behave like a rooster and be aggressive, yet graceful. Face it it was fun, but it taught me what you are dancing personally. FANTASTIC!!!
