This looks great. Love the old style, "out and back" woodies.

I just rode this today. What a ride! the back seat is easily my most favorite spot to ride. The added whip over each hill gives great ejector pops and floater on the entire drop. Easily in the top 5 best wooden coasters in the USA. Sure it’s a little bumpy but it’s not too bad.
@CoasterHabitat2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, top 5 woodies for sure. A great ride anywhere on the train but definitely the best in the back. Hopefully Michigans Adventure and Cedar Fair continue to keep in it good condition.
@kagome1228852 жыл бұрын
Ride it in the back row and you will get a pop of ejector air as you are yanked down the first drop!

Since when did wooden rollercoasters being "a little bumpy" become such a big thing? That's one of the qualities a true wooden coaster enthusiast enjoys.....a little bumpiness, some strong laterals to throw you sideways, airtime and good pacing.

So many coasters have the main drop and then try to twist and turn you in all directions. This one is dips dips dips dips and then more dips. Incredible! There used to be a coaster at the former West View Park in Pittsburgh called The Dips that was mostly all dips like this coaster. To me, THAT is what makes for a great roller coater!! They used to call these types of coasters "Out and Back" coasters.

Dips and fast and long! This sucker is just right. Family and I just spent two days at Kings Island and I have to say those coasters just are not up to shivering timbers. Michigan Adventures might not be a big coaster park but… it has an excellent coaster.

This ride alone is worth the drive to this park. One of the nicest wooden roller coasters i've ever been on. The drops keep going for days. And (somewhat unfortunately) the park isn't very busy, so there's a good chance you can ride it multiple times with minimal lineups.

One of the world's best wooden coasters. I grew up out here and I tend to ride it multiple times a year. This year I'm buying a season pass.

@@CoasterHabitat ikr, it's about time. Shivering Timbers is starting to show it's wear after carrying the park since 98'. I'm hoping we get some sort of steel coaster. I feel like the park could easily be revived with a new coaster.

Just went here for thr first tome today when i was in the area visiting a friend. Fantastic ride and CCI at their best, but unfortunately its definitely showing its age. I will say that the park was much better than i was expecting. Add a BnM and 200+ foot coaster and it could be a good destination park for the state.

I believe there was a plan that never happened for a Chance Morgan hyper after Arrow went bankrupt. I believe the park has a height restriction of 200ft.

Most wooden coasters in the US are not ‘dippers’ they just hurtle… they may start very high but they twist round instead of dropping straight down and giving that stomach-churning ‘air time’ many continue this twisting and turning and although exhilarating it’s only speed and a lot of vibration. This true of Blackpool’s ‘Big One’ although not a woodie, it’s just a speed merchant! The 1923 ‘Big Dipper’ in its shadow gives more of a thrill in its traditional ‘dips’ ‘Shivering Timbers’ is the finest example of a ‘woodie’ that’s actually a huge thrilling ‘dipper’ coaster! Oh! If I was younger and could afford to travel there and ride it! Thrilled just to see it on KZbin! ❤

It's a pretty decent park, lines aren't bad if multiple trains are ruining and shivering timbers is an elite woodie. You can try out titan track on Wolverine Wildcat but the SLC is just as bad as the rest.

How do they maintain so many tall hills in a row, most coasters get shorter each as they go?
@CoasterHabitat4 ай бұрын
They don't HAVE to get slowly shorter. RMC uses tiny hills for airtime right after the drop. Most layouts do get gradually shorter in height, due to the fact that the train needs to complete the circuit on just gravity after the lift hill.
@Rroachball Жыл бұрын
That is a long, fun looking ride! How is it able to maintain its speed with those numerous large hills? The speed and pacing reminds me of The Voyage. This is all based off of POV videos I've seen, but I would love to ride both coasters one day.
@KyleJPie10 Жыл бұрын
It's about as close to Voyage as any other wooden coaster gets. Michigan's Adventure is my home park, only a short drive away, so I've been riding it regularly for the last 20 years or so. Finally had a chance to ride Voyage for the first time last year and it definitely lives up to the hype. Both are 100% my two favorite wooden coasters in the country.

I like this better than El Toro but not better than The Voyage. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT turn this into a hybrid EVER NEVER EVER. This is my number 2 woodie of all times. I can't revisit unless they build another MAJOR coaster that is no less than 4000 ft long. They need a NEW B&M Hyper or Intamin but since the population in the area isn't that major, I am sure that will never happen.
