Sifu Tommy Carruthers Interview : Bruce Lee and Jeet Kune Do

My teacher Tommy Carruthers held a Seminar in Beijing last year, in which is just the 75th anniversary of the birth of Bruce Lee. My friend wanted to interview him, so that more Chinese people can understand what Jeet Kune Do is. Here is the program.
I asked questions in Chinese, and Sifu Tommy Carruthers answered in English. It seemed a smooth going, in fact, it’s not easy to subtitle-translator and post-editing staffs. I would like to thank all my friends and students involved in this program recording, interviews, translation and editing. Thank you for all your help. In the night before record, my teacher and I went to my friends’ party together. Because the seminar had just ended on that day, I got drunk by relaxing. The next day, I woke up and began the interview directly, so I am sorry I couldn’t talk very clearly. Sifu Tommy Carruthers was also not in a better status because of the time difference and teaching. Fortunately, the content of talk, after reorganized, is already very much clear. There are his learning experience of martial arts, his understanding for JKD and his idea of JKD teaching in the program.
In this Interview, his analyses of Bruce Lee’ Jeet Kune Do form, his views of JKD property and his answers of JKD future development are particularly worth to note. For one question, different persons have different views, which come with their own background and experiences. What he talked in program is based on his hard-working practice on martial arts and his learning and research of JKD by following many first-generation students of Bruce Lee. I elicit his views, and I hope they can help you to understand JKD well.
