Shizuka joins Rodney Smith, a local guide who has been living in Osaka for the past 15 years, for a food tour in Osaka. Part 1 of the tour takes place at a local Osaka street food spot, Torame Yokocho (Tiger Eye Alley) in Namba, Osaka, heaven for fried food lovers.
Here, Shizuka tries a variety of authentic kushikatsu (fried skewers), an Osaka street food staple, and learns the golden rule of kushikatsu: no double dipping!
They also order sushi, karaage, yaki-edamame, and more! Torame Yokocho has it all, including Osaka-style okonomiyaki, fresh off the teppan griddle. Even their chopsticks come with extra flair -- Omikuji fortune-telling papers, which are usually found at temples & shrines.
After sufficiently filling up on classic Osaka street foods and a couple rounds of beer, they continue on to the next part of the Namba Osaka tour… getting a little taste of Osaka nightlife on a bar hopping adventure!

Like what Shizzy said, the golden rule when having Kushikatsu is never to dip the tub of sauce more than once. Therefore, some places do provide a small bowl of cabbage or vegetables of some kind for you to scoop up more sauce in case you needed more sauce on your Kushikatsu! 😋👍🏻

I knew that place seemed familiar. I went there on a bar hopping trip back in '18. Things obviously have changed due to covid, but seeing the footage from it really brings back some fun memories. Thanks for the name, as I never really remembered the placename after the bar hopping trip, and I kind of want to go back there on my next trip to Osaka. This will make it easier to trace back. Wonder if the "Big tits okonomiyaki" is still on the menu card there? :-D Was a fun weird dish that all made us laugh when we noticed it. Also: 5:19 I totally forgot about this, but it's true. I had future luck as well, and the guide told me to put it in my wallet (which I did). Also fun fact: If you have bad luck, there is a wall in that place (filled with bad luck notes) where you can tie up the note so that the bad luck won't come true :-D
