Of course they will offer their limited cars to the loyal and wealthy clients and from what Tim explained, the system Ferrari has, seems quite fair. Anyway, congratulations to the allocation for the SF90XX and your beautiful car line up. To be honest, i was never a big Ferrari fan, but they grow on me, first they look amazing and the history of Ferrari is quite impressive as well. For me your Ferrari line up makes sense, since you have 3 completely different engines in your Ferraris, so just from this, the experience is already so much different. As a collector with many Ferrari’s (currently a Classiche 308, Portofino M, Purosangue, F8, SF90 AF spider, 812 GTS, 296 GTS and SF90 XX coming) there is certainly truth to “having to buy.” To get VS and/or limited cars you HAVE to buy and hold cars. Tim knows his SF90 must be held until the XX arrives. So, while you buy because you love the brand…in order to collect, you have to buy what’s offered. Great comments on ‘the game’ … I personally changed from a Porsche guy to a Ferrari guy … based on two things …. 1. It’s the passion and excitement of the brand …. Ferrari creates an excitement inside …. A passion …. Porsche is clinical but almost boringly perfect ….. but 2. ‘The game’…. All I wanted was a GT3 or GT3rs to drive … you know, to enjoy that perfection ….. but no …. Not a chance …. The Dealer Principle got the first one for his collection and the Rich ‘flippers’ got the others …. No doubt giving 1/2+the profit back to the dealership …. It stank ….. and my custom went elsewhere because of that ….. Funny thing is I’d have paid Porsche the flippers money for their amazing cars, but I’m not gonna line the flippers pockets !!! And just a shout out to……Ferrari Scuderia 16m …..honestly ….. best car Ferrari ever made … (except F40, F50, Enzo and 250) …… noise, handling, perfect power, analogue but modern, n/a, 499 worldwide, Schumacher inspired, steering and feel and my god …. That single clutch gearbox … it’s as fast as a duel clutch but the feel of a manual ……

Tim, as always your YT channel is among the very best on the entire internet, I simply love it. But….now please don’t take offense to what I’m about to express and I also know all the Shmeebites out there may throw hate my way, but please hear me out as this is just one simple man’s opinion/view. Your collection is simply fantastic 👍🏻 However, none of your cars have a, “soul.” Now please allow me to explain. There is no other way to put it but to be blunt, I know you are a self-made man and for that I have the highest respect for you, but you have a rich boys collection. Basically most are modern cars, that are flawless, perfect and basically they drive you, you’re not really driving them. Don’t be offended, but if you don’t own at least 1 car that is at least 15 to 20 years old or even older, you’re just a passenger in your car. For a car to have a soul it needs to be one that has been around for a long time, 15, 20, 30, 40 even 50 years old. Cars that were around before you were even born!Sure the cars you have are exotic to look at, but they don’t have the history, style, beauty, imperfections, temperament and the patina of a classic car. As a true car aficionado that you are, you need at least 1 true classic in your collection. Something that really tugs the strings of your heart and soul when you drive it. Something that you just don’t flick a fancy carbon fiber paddle back to shift into gear something that when you’re done driving it you are exhausted because you drove it, It did not drive you! Just give it some thought, take on the challenge, purchase something older than anything else in your collection, much older and of course, worthy of the Shmee Collection…perhaps a classic Ferrari? 512BBi? Daytona? Or maybe a 355? 😉
@jamespatrick15488 ай бұрын

I still struggle to get my head round the concept of being classified as privileged to spend huge amounts of money on a new car. However, I do understand the reason that top marques want to stop people from taking advantage of limited supply and making money off them. It will be interesting to know if this changes with the move to alternative technologies, or makes 2nd hand prices even more extreme. The issue I have, and Jayem explained, is that many super cars and sought after models will become too expensive for the masses and will sit in garages appreciating, rather than being driven.

Ferrari loves celebrities and now influences. Same with Lamborghini. Look how quickly Stradman got his Revuelto and Sterrato. Ferrari pushed the 812 GTS for Nico Leonard. Mercedes has worked with Tim numerous times and despite what Shmark150 says, I still think that Tim getting the GT Black Series was because he did a commercial for the reveal. But they c,aim they were treated like any other customer and never got a deal for the car and wasn't promised an allocation. We do know he was offered the 765LT. All the influences who were at the track day showing them off were offered allocation preferences. They could get cars first, but were limited as to the spec. Tim declined as did most influencers.
@EA409 ай бұрын
I actually agree with Shmarc here. The commercial likely had nothing to do with the Black Series allocation. I think there were cooler reasons at play but I won't specify :) I wouldn't just say that Ferrari loves influencers. They just love people who put the brand in a good light. If Tim theoretical dedicated much of his channel to following and supporting Ferrari's racing efforts, he would also get some cool allocations.

One point though, I think it's a bit hypocritical to compare your experience with Ferrari vs Porsche when: - you sold your GT3 nearly immediately, because you just didn't like it - same for the Taycan, got rid of it pretty fast - so basically you just really drove and enjoyed ONE Porsche, the cayman GT4, and that was a while ago. Whereas for Ferrari, you just like their cars more, got more, invested more in them, kept them more and did a bunch of miles in them too, including more expensive and fancy cars. You got a Purosangue, not a Cayenne GT. You got a FF, not a Panamera. You just got no relationship with Porsche. You don't like their 'regular' cars. And that's all fine to prefer Ferrari to Porsche. But go to a Porsche dealership vs a Ferrari dealership, as a normal person, and try to test drive any of their cars and see the difference...

Completely agreed with you, Tim was never a porsche guy. He went the route of ferraris or maybe Lamborghini as well due to the contents that he can make with these high-end exotics cars that viewers wanted to watch.
@EA409 ай бұрын
Incorrect from the start. - The biggest reason he had to sell the GT3 was to make funds and garage space for the simultaneously incoming Ford GT and McLaren Senna. Both cars were delivered MONTHS ahead of schedule because the manufacturers wanted to avoid impending emissions regulation changes. (That scenario is a KZbinr nightmare btw.) The GT3 was supposed to stay in his garage for much longer than it did. He drove it too much to really make a case for flipping it. And btw, Tim confirmed this reasoning to me too. - There wasn't a case for the Taycan to stay. That was his purchased vehicle. EV interest was a bubble, and the market was a bubble too. The Mach-E team car is a press demo. - a Cayenne and Panamera has less content value unless you spec them REALLY high. But then you have much more depreciation to worry about. So no business case either. You don't have that depreciation to worry about with some of these Ferraris. It's not like Tim doesn't care. You already forgot how much he drove the 911 GT3 around the Nurburgring? He's the kind of client Porsche wants. Plus you see so many other people getting early allocations of GT cars only to try and flip them quickly after. It's not really fair. You gotta understand the business behind things and look at nuances better. Your comment was just filled with made-up assumptions.

@@yyeo3880viewers like 911 content too. If Tim was given a GT allocation, he could probably make good stuff again. Unfortunately his only GT allocation wasn't even in the UK.

You did have to buy them, the happy byproduct is that you do enjoy them. It could easily be the other way round and you could not enjoy them but still have to buy them

When his going to get classic like a ferrari with 3 litre v12 columbo everything pretty much the same just slight design changes

Tbf I think Ferrari are a lot more upfront about allocations, where Porsche seem to have major issues at the dealer level.

Every dealership plays “the game” they have their top clients who have bought plenty of cars and were a pleasure to work with and so of course a business is going to reach out to these people first as they have treated them well in the past and it’s only respectful to offer your best customers the best stuff first 🤷🏼♂️ if you want a XX and aren’t close you can still get one, you’ll just have to pay the premium for it which is honestly less than buying all the cars that require you to get there in the first place

You definitely are a Ferrari enthusiast. I looked at your videos and 13 years now you have been making videos. Your videos and you have transformed. Your video quality now is top notch. You are so lively and knowledge of these cars is 2nd to none. Watching you is always informative and entertaining. The only person I have seen as knowledgeable about cars in general is @stevemagnante. He knows everything about old American cars. You know everything about Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Maybe the least used so far, but IMO, the best looking Ferrari of the bunch, and perhaps the best looking car, period, in the entire garage! To my eyes, with the exception perhaps of some Gordon Murray unobtainables or rare hypercars, the most visually appealing car on sale today.

Love this video! Honest and almost raw love it. I get the brand allocation thing but what about the mere mortal who maybe wins the lottery and can only ever buy one dream car to keep forever, that person can now not buy the ultimate dream car due to the brand embargo.

You are aware, that you don't need the vignette sticker in the windscreen anymore, don't you? You can get them fully digital. Not sure if the UK offers that, but the ADAC in Germany does. It doesn't cost extra, takes 5 minutes and you're immediately good to go. You can ask for the paper QR code, if you are not fully convinced, that the digital version works. I did that in 2018.

Why do people go on about the haptic controls? Same controls in the Roma/sf90 etc and they follow the 'logic' of the F8/488/458 centric control layout, my 296 is awesome and I don't even register the haptics as it's the same control logic 🤷

Tim this was a great informative video . I love the way you took time to explain the Ferrari relationship , sorry for how Porsche ghosted you and McLaren kinda made you feel the way you did . When I look at collections like David Lee I think being a Ferrari collector is a cool thing they have great stories on all their cars and hey it’s an exclusive brand most people in the world will never get to buy . Perspective matters and I’m glad you explained your own end of it . Looking forward to your Ferrari stories maybe one day I’ll buy my first Ferrari . Thanks for the motivation Tim .

Lee famously buys his collection secondhand to avoid all the politics of getting such cars from allocation

Shmee, I know it might seem old school, (living in Australia, we obviously don't get to see your cars or you in person) so how about producing a "coffee table" book of your story, your cars, the why and how etc. there is 2 Australian guys, Mighty Car Mods, who did that a few years ago and I sense was very successful.

I do really like much more the looks of the Purosangue and the SF90 (may be the spec) for what I’ve hear the 296 should be the one i like most the driving.

Well explained. But since I'm a man of poverty, I don't think I would buy an exotic with hybrid engine. The main manufacturers seem to be doing well in that area.

So what I have gathered from Tim, is that if he buys enough Ferraris he will get an allocation but it also comes down to money I think. It seems Tim tried that tactic with McLaren and Porsche and they said no it's not all about money, we need a relationship with you.
