Most race tracks have even stricter limits. When we have track days here in Sweden it’s normally 95dB, on a good day 105dB. So 130dB is veeery liberal.

The Nurburgring has one of the most lenient noise ordinance for any track at 130DB. Google track noise limits for all the professional tracks out there, you will find most have even lower.

Yepp. I can understand his disappointment, being kicked off the track in your un-modified/standard track car, when you have spent so much money on it isn't great. As you say exhaust turndowns or a silencer needs to be added! Sounded incredible on the Lap never the less.

Why don't you install an override switch to close the valves when you want to go on track. The slight decrease in HP would not be an issue and you could enjoy your track car on the track. The car sounds amazing BTW. It would sound just as good at 125dB just not as invasive.

Sound engineer here, while many sources say 3dB is double the loudness, that is not the case, increase of 10dB is a doubling of perceived loudness. Just imagine a loud car and then a car that appears to be TWICE as loud, that is 10dB and you would be banned at the ramp if you came with such loud car.

For any clueless person getting wound up about noise restrictions while being a race track. This is completely normal and most race tracks have (much) tighter noise limits and dont allow 130db. Also you have to consider that this is really really huge racetrack which basically goes through villages where people live. If there wouldnt be any noise restrictions, the Nürburgring wouldnt exist anymore, because peoples tolerance limit would obviously be strained to the limit.

People buy houses knowing full well whats in the local area but then make it a personal mission to put a stop to it. I get that local residents to the ring have been there for a long time but they should know the deal that comes with the proximity. 🙃

@@docpj9665 ah, I did not know that. I have never owned something with adjustable valves like that. The closest thing I ever had was a 74 Camaro that had a manual lever to bypass the entire exhaust system and run straight pipes. It didn't hurt anything to leave those closed as that was the way it was designed to be run and opening it just gave more power at the cost of things being considerably louder.

I would be doing some recon on where those sound pressure level meters are on the track to perhaps increase yoir chances of getting in more than one lap. I mean they can't have them every meter around the entire track. Still epic and always an occasion any time the lambo goes out for a adventure.

While these noise restrictions are trash, Lamborghini knew these are a thing when designing the STO, and made sure it ended up being unusable. Lovely way to thank the customers who paid a shit ton of money for a track special 😡Correction on decibels Tim: 3 DB up equals double the sound energy yes, but we need 10 DB for our ears to think they hear double the sound level. 1 DB is nothing.
