Stunning. In my top ten of fav ABBA songs.

Frida won all those vocal talent hunts as a child, pre-teen, teen and adult because she is the real deal. She came to ABBA with a ton of stage performance experience. Over 15 years live on stage performances and also Live-to-air TV shows. A stellar reputation among her music peers since she was a child.

Frida at her best. What power - what a voice - what a song! Thanks Matt 👍

Her voice is somehow very different from Agnetha`s, yet they work so perfectly together. Here you can here the warmth and power of her voice, and I must say, Frida has always said that Agnetha is the real story teller in the band, but so is she. Fantastic lead vocals, again.

Frida is very humble. Also, great ambassador of ABBA. She has always praised everyone on the ABBA Polar Music Team. Frida is the ABBA girl that has always been recognized since she was in grade school. She earned her stellar reputation among her music peers on the stages. Agnetha often gets dinged for her poor live performances and a lack of a career on the stages that Frida was known for.

I love this song too! Fridas vocals are amazing and like you said - you see a movie while listening to the song: The little dull town, the friends getting married and "grown up" - maybe too fast?, her not really fitting in because of her talent and ambitions for something more than the ordinary life! That emphazises how good Björn is to write lyrics and tell stories in 3-4 minutes, in spite that english isn´t his language! And with Bennys composition, Agnethas backing vocals and Fridas leadvocal, this is just another great ABBA gem, that deserves to be appriciated much more!

Listen to Frida from the 60's. Anni-Frid Four era, 1963-1966. Her TV show, EMI era 1967-1972. Very vocal centric sophisticated songs. Awesome jazz singer. Ger control is incredible. Pitch perfect. Diaphragmatic breathing. A professional!

Frida was Stig's HUGE get! It was not easy to get Frida to commit to a pop group. Vocally, a comedown to her perfered of vocal centric genres, particularly jazz. In 1972, Stig/Polar Music secured Frida. Stig eventually named them ABBA. Always remember, Benny, and Bjorn were not the boss. The boss was Stig and his label, Polar Music. And Frida has lots of pull. ABBA: Bright Lights Dark Shadows The Real Story of ABBA By Carl Magnus Palm Frida gets lots of attention. She was the natural front and center performer entertainer. A working vocalist that came from the stages. Stig's golden girl.

A new contribution to ABBA statistics on your channel today "I wonder (departure)" reached 1000 views is the 35th ABBA song to achieve it and mark another important fact: the average of your ABBA reactions is already 1000 views also now "The Album" is the first album in which all its songs have exceeded 1000 views and it is the one with the highest average views, but in the accumulated it was surpassed by the album "Voulez Vous" again, as always congratulations for your fantastic ABBA Journey my best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina South America

Your reactions are so sincere and genuineto the point it makes me feel so sad as to how America allowed itself to miss out on this wonderfuyl music during Abba's heyday. The rest of the world embraced rthem and loved them but somehow America let them "slip through their fingers". I'm so pleased you and other Americans are now finding out what the rest of us had. We were blessed to have the music of ABBA in our lives. I'm glad they've now entered yours. You come across as a genuinely nice bloke by the way. I enjoy your reactions very much.

I wonder... is a lovely wistful song that anyone can map their own feelings on when moving on in life. A lot of people thought this was Agnetha singing as Frida is unusually singing higher than normally did.

desr Friend, congratulations in advance for doing the songs from the mini musical in their orderly sequence ABBA made a short musical which was performed live on Europe & Australia tour 1977 "The Girl with the Golden Hair" is the title of the musical is a continuous story of four songs in sequence: 1) The girl with the golden hair (will be "Thanks for the music") 2) I wonder 3) I am a marionette 4) Get on the carousel The first three, with modifications, were included in "ABBA The Album", a masterpiece like an album, with fantastic and totally different 9 master songs I wonder (departure) it is the second song of the mini musical (it is the continuation of Thank you for the music) the lyrics explore the loneliness of the protagonist, far from her affections (in her tour performance, there is a spoken intro between songs) in the mini-musical Frida and Agnetha are both wearing the same looks, including blonde 'rococo-style' wigs "I wonder (departure)" It's a softer ballad that goes perfectly with Frida's deepest voice has a powerful choir with Agnetha and a beautiful instrumental melodic bridge to then return to the second part in a similar way the melody from I wonder was 'rescued' by ABBA for the quartet's final bow at the current Voyage Concerts at London's ABBA Arena in my humble opinion "I wonder" is a beautiful ballad, beautifully sung by Frida in leads (with Agnetha in chorus) but within the mini musical, and within "The Album" too, it is my least favorite of them all (it had to touch someone) and this is a compliment to both the fantastic mini musical and the superlative album if "I wonder" is 7/8pts, which is great, everything else is even better, it is the highest bar of ABBA in their best album and their best creative moment and interpersonal relationships I'll wait for you in next video: "I'm a marionette" It will be extraordinary to see Your reaction (I will not say more to save the surprise) I leave you a big hugh from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South América

❤️❤️ beautiful Frida vocal, she has such mastery of her voice, beautiful tone and power - she has such a phenomenal voice, her live vocal version of this track is better than the studio version - not many singers sound better live than the recording (Matt Bellamy from Muse is another artist with similar live vocal talent) A fantastic reaction, thank you xx

(Wayne's wife:) This song captured my young heart, and I used to imagine singing it at my high school graduation. Never had the nerve to try to make it happen. But I wonder if they would've let me sing "who the HELL am I." That was still shocking back then.

Your ear for detail is my guide through all too familiar music for me. It does happen that great songs lose their spark over the years, but one wellplaced remark, may help me to be rekindled with their utter beauty again. Here Frida's at her best, setting the stage so brilliantly for the final track. When not really 'listened' to, but 'hearing' this song, one could miss out on the depths of emotion of hope and doubt she is expressing here. Doubt that has no room in this minimusical that ends with a circus of sound and .... I wiil stay silent here. Enjoy the ride, Matt!

Probably out of the three tracks in the Mini Musical this works the best in a musical sense and only a Frida vocal suits it. This appeared as the B side to The Name of the Game single but the live version was used so unusual to get 2 versions of an ABBA song.

There is a fourth song from the mini musical thats not on the album only in ABBA the movie. It's called Get On The Carousel, with the Live version ( video KZbin) it's a rollercoaster of speed and a wall of sound when you hear and see it.
@mattsnider2667 Жыл бұрын
Indeed, a couple folks have already mentioned that, I'm guessing it's in the folder I have access to? I'll certainly investigate. Need to take the full ABBA journey! (videos included at some point, though I am waiting on most of those in the hope I can alter my set-up---or add a second set-up---for video reactions)

3 out of the 4 ABBA members were not born and raised in Stockholm but had to break up as teenagers (Agnetha) or in their early twenties (Frida and Björn) to Stockholm two pursue their musical careers. They had all been going through that process and it is not as they were moving from major towns but actually from three towns that in the sixties really were small. Benny on the other hand was a son of the royal capital itself.

This was a song I’d always skip, I found it so boring. But I really enjoy it now. It’s a very beautiful melody and great lyrics. The next song in the mini musical is very different. I think you’ll enjoy that one too!

Matt, old chap, the next and final track on The Album is I'm A Marionette. You might want to compare Abba's version to the cover version by the (equally) Swedish ghostmetal combo Ghost. Which version sounds scarier, more unhinged?

Must admit when I was a kid this was a bit of a snoozefest, I would waiting for it to be over to get to the dark drama of the next track. Of course now I'm much more sympathetic to it. I am one of those rare things, a gay who doesn't like musical theatre, so while it is mired in that genre, deliberately of course, I can still appreciate Frida's beautiful, heartfelt vocal performance and the idea of which path to take in life, the uncertainty of leaving the familiar for the unknown, tinged with ambition to succeed. I do still find that lyric, "it's ghastly" a bit of a strange one. I could never work out what she was singing (it's gassed me? It's blasphemy?), it took ages to get it and it just seems like the wrong word to describe what she is feeling. Minor point.
