What's up, people! I'm back with another Roxette reaction from their 1994 album Crash! Boom! Bang!, and this time we listen to the title-track, which had a slightly different sonic atmosphere than I considered in advance, though the expression of emotional themes through the onomatopoeia words of the title did not surprise me. Either way, join me as we continue with our Roxette journey. Cheers!
Also I run a Patreon featuring some extra content of different types, so anyone interested in supporting what we do on this channel through donation and getting access to reactions blocked on KZbin, behind-the-scenes videos, video-reactions, and blooper-reels from my videos can go here: / shnootz

What a f*cking masterpiece this song is. I thought it would be a rock song, but instead it tells the story of my sad love life. Marie's vocals are immaculate, as always, and crystal clear. Per did a great job with the lyrics and the musical arrangement is also phenominal.

Amazing ballad song. Details about the song and comments taken from Per & Marie songs dictionary: Per: Well, for a start everybody said that you can’t have a title like that on a ballad like this. Marie: I just wished I’d written the lyrics myself. This is the moment I wait for in our concerts. I love when the strings come sweeping in… Per: …Clarence (Producer) at his best… a bit of Burt Bacharach there, isn’t it? Always something to strive for. Yeah, this one is one of my favorites too. The title’s from Elvis’ “Jailhouse Rock”, by the way. Hard to believe that Elvis Presley’s 1957 rave-up “Jailhouse Rock” inspired this sweet and slow ballad. Well, the lyrics did at least… “the whole rhythm section going crash! boom! bang!”, remember? A massive radio hit in Europe and South America, but the group’s honeymoon with the USA is strained when the American record company release Favorites from Crash! Boom! Bang!, a shorter version of the album sold only at McDonald’s restaurants in USA. It was fried. / P. Thanks Matts for this new reaction. Waiting for more CBB! hugs!

I guess people expect a rocker when they read the title. But what you get is one of Roxette's most beautiful ballads. Per took the phrase Crash Boom Bang from 'Jailhouse Rock'.

❤ The video for this is amazing, there is so much going in that even now I see things I've never noticed before. Think it was the most expensive they shot due to some problem with fitting the music with the actions(I think)

Yes, I think they had to do it twice.

Thos album took a few listens before it grew on me as it was a departure from their earlier style, but grow on me it certainly did! The video for Crash Boom Bang is definitely one of my faves.

This is one of my favorite Roxette songs. It's probably not the best one to listen to before I'm about to board a plane back home, but that's okay. LOL Thanks for the reaction, Matt!!

When this came out I wasn't into Roxette, having enjoyed LOOK SHARP! extensively but losing interest afterwards. I do remember the video from music TV and thinking wow, this is nice. Fast forward to 2006, the Roxbox crossed my path. That's when it hit me how great Roxette have always been. While I consider the album a mixed bag, "Crash! Boom! Bang!" is one of my favorites, the song and the video. It's just beautiful.

The buildup of this song is just amazing. For some reason it still never was one of my immediate favorites. I was so hopeful and young back then!

I’m quite an odd one out when it comes to this song. Most people love it and consider it a favourite. I will happily skip it every time. However this is why I’ve loved your Roxette and ABBA deep dives, I’m forced to listen to songs I wouldn’t do out of choice and I quite enjoy many of them with new ears.

You're not the only one. While I really like how the song builds up and develops, and there are really cool bits in it, it always sounded a bit off to me. Hard to describe, a bit oppressive, stuffy and ponderous perhaps. When it comes to having to listen to the songs usually skipped, I sort of dread the day Matt reaches Son Of A Plumber on Per's career deep dive, whenever he starts it... End of sacrilege on my part!

@@gebus5633that album really needs to be listened to all at once like on a road trip. I dont think it suits being chopped up into single songs

Second single, and frustratingly, didn’t really dent the charts here in the uk. The title is from Jailhouse Rock, although the style of both tunes are worlds apart…it took a few listens to grow on me however, I guess I hadn’t got over the impact of Harleys

Ha, I'm catching up with comments like always, and I'll admit, I don't remember exactly how I felt or what I said during this reaction specifically, but rest assured, I am quite happy currently (and in general). So maybe I was tired, maybe this video was at the end of a longer session (again, I can't recall in the moment), but I'm good. Cheers for asking. :)
