One of my favourites from this album. A good example of how they only used synths in a monophonic way (single note at at time, no chords) on that album.

This is one of those classic Cure songs that don't get the same hype as "A Forest", but still somehow never seem to get old or dull or unwelcome. If you don't count "A Forest" - because of its sacrosanct stauts - this is my favourite from this album, together with "In Your House". Keep up the great work!

Another one of my favourites from 17 Seconds. Robert Smith wrote this for his then-girlfriend Mary, who he commonly refers to as "M." Robert was always evasive about who inspired the song, saying only "It's about a girl...". Some speculate that the "M" in question may be the character Hans Beckert (a child murderer) alias M in Fritz Lang's 1931 film of the same name. Others suggest that there may be a parallel with Albert Camus' short story 'A Happy Death' in which the main character's surname is Mersault who has a meaningless relationship with his girlfriend Marthe (Robert Smith had already been inspired by Camus for "Killing An Arab"). Who knows? Maybe it's a mix of all three hypotheses...!

I don't think I have heard this before, but it's amazing how "familiar" it sounded - like you said, it has that Cure "atmosphere". 👍 You're becoming a Cure expert. 🤗☺ I am still to understand what makes me love their sound so much, but my heart glows as soon as I hear it. 💖 Lucca didn't know how to take it, she tried a lot of different "perspectives" throughout the song. 😅 And at 2:32 she even guessed the next lyrics ("ready for the next attack?") and acted accordingly. 😹

Matt's all time favourite song is "Atmosphere" by Russ Abbot. That is why he mentions that word so often.

@@handsolo1209 I don't have to time to google now, but I sort of anticipate what kind of stuff I would find. 😜 Or not! Anyway, I am sure I am not missing out on anything great. 😅

@@SofiaMarques18 Excuse me? Are you accusing me of something? That song got to #7 on the UK charts. I am saddened by the lack of trust around here.

Hahahaha, she was ready for the next attack! And mmmmm, your glowing heart. 😘🥰😍❤❤🔥 I'm loving this journey, excited to hear more as we keep going through their material.

@@mattsnider2667 I don't think there is really a Russ Abbot journey so to speak. I know you will fully enjoy all of his work though!

There's a movie called "M" , I've heard something about this being influenced by that movie? Idk

I haven’t heard about this but it makes me want to look up the lyrics. Great movie btw.
