Also Shoaib Akhtar ended up retiring earlier due to knee issue due to his action that was damaging his knee all these years bowling 150+ was a cake for him

On his day, Ahktar was as destructive with the likes of Akram and Waqar. His yorkers were devastating.

Shane Watson talked about this recently on the grade cricketer and he said it's probably the only time he was seriously worried he was going to get hurt from being hit. He said it's the fastest spell he ever faced and that includes the Wahab Riaz spell to him in the 2015 World Cup which was 13 years later on from this. The Wahab Riaz aggression he said he deserved because he had seriously sledged him whilst Riaz was batting. This is very early on in Watson's career, around 2002. This was a 3 match series they had in the off season (Australian winter)with 2 matches under the roof at what's now the Marvel stadium in Melbourne and this last game at the Gabba (Brisbane doesn't really have a winter). The ball was typically flying through at the Gabba as it usually does but coupled with Ahktars lethal pace this was something else. Watson was good enough technically to be a top order batsman (except his tendency to put his huge front pad in the way of the ball and get out lbw). That's why he was successful opening the batting for Australia which he did even in test cricket. As a bowler he had pace himself early on and could get up to 150kph very early on, but multiple injuries really slowed down his bowling pace and he ended up being a handy medium pace swing bowler for most of his career with Australia. He probably didn't realise his potential overall especially in test cricket and he struggled with multiple injuries especially early on in his career. Cameron Green looks like the real deal and possibly someone who will realise the potential Watson always had. Re- Akhtar, he was probably the fastest bowler I ever saw. He bowled multiple spells approaching 100mph, and with reverse swing and brutal bouncers he could be unplayable at times. Brett Lee had his brutal spells as well where he approached 100mph and was more consistently fast for multiple overs but when it came to those short sharp brutal spells of fast bowling Shoaib was something else. Probably the best spell I ever saw from him was in a neutral test match in Colombo Sri Lanka where Aus were playing Pakistan in 2002 ( not long after this game) where Pakistan were miles behind on first innings and he randomly got the ball reversing and ran through the Aus batting line up (both Waugh twins, Ponting, Gilchrist). It was just literally too fast for them and this was when Aus batting were at their most dominant. He bowled a memorable Yorker at Gilchrist from around the wicket, that he just could not get the bat down in time.

That's probably the quickest bouncer you have seen. The ball nearly carried for 6

Wahab Riaz's incredible bowling spell to Shane Watson back in WC15 was probably one of the best spells with so much aggression

161 km speed is insane even it can break the helmet if hit on the head even a batsman knows what is the speed is all about and it is almost deadly when it is bouncer at that speed. Let me say Shoaib is a very strong man with body builder physique

I always felt Watson was a little overrated. A solid all-rounder in white ball cricket, but I could never wrap my head around him opening the batting in the Test team. The man's footwork was nowhere. But Australian selectors obviously saw it differently.

Still better than any current Australian allrounder it's sad how his own countrymen hated him a total match winner, he was underrated not overrated.
