Just picked up a TLR 8-XE and two of the damn shafts are stripped where the tiny screw attaches the piston on top. Great start to my build. Also, missing one of the tiny brass bleeder screw washers. Great first time kit experience lol. Glad I started with the shocks, I am sure the rest will be a breeze.

You should not completely tighten the bottom cap until the shock shaft is in the shock body. Fully tightening the bottom cap compresses the o-rings and spacers. And you have a greater chance of damaging the o-rings. IMO. Awesome videos BTW. And great win at DNC

What would be your starting point for something with lots of ruts and bums? I currently use 1.2x8 550w in front 1.3x8 500w in rear? 1. You forgot to install the shock boot 2. I recommend rubbing some of your o-ring grease into the bladder as well, keeps it softer longer.

What length for rear shock shafts? Front 34.5 and rear?

I loose the lower cup a bit during pushing the shaft because you can damage the o-rings by the thread.

Interesting, looks like nothing has changed on the shocks except for the pistons and cap since the original D8.

Grabs a 2L bottle and gets cutting, wheres the bike pump. Do you just pump the shafts then place into the chamber shaft fully extended?

Why does your "shocks" have a bleeder screw if you're going to do all that ? PS your "shocks" aren't going to be as effective when unloaded the way it's set.
