If someone has a vice with less jaw opening they can use a standard socket behind the bearing till it bottoms out then switch to a deep wall socket. Good video.

What all sockets did you use for the bearings?
@DirtBikingwithDonnie
@DirtBikingwithDonnie Жыл бұрын
I’m sorry, I didn’t note the specific socket sizes. It varies by wall thickness, length, drive size, etc. I find that 1/2 drive is best for the thru bolt method. I just sort through various ones until I find one slightly smaller than the bearing for pressing the bearing and one large enough to catch the bearing on the other side. Hope that helps.

I bought a YZ250FX with a lowering linkage already installed I'm thinking about putting it back to stock I'm 6 ft 175 is it a waste of time or should I put it back to stock It does sit low and this is my first dirt bike so that might be easier for me to learn on but I'm pretty handy with the bike already because I came from downhill mountain biking. Do you think it's a big deal or just leave it alone. Another thing the guy had a shop heat the front fork coils to lower it and I bought some New front springs but they are for the f and not the FX so they're slightly stiffer but again I'm used to jumping 30 ft gaps on my mountain bike so I figured a little stiffer it would help once I learn how to jump this bike. I'm basically trying to put it all back to stock so I know what at least stock feels like but I also don't want to waste my time if it's not that big of a deal

I would put the stock linkage and springs back on it. The lowering link significantly changes the handling of the bike. It effectively changes the rake angle. Heating the fork springs is definitely not the proper way to lower forks and that will have a big impact on the rebound damping. Go back to stock and then work with a reputable suspension shop for revalving if needed.

@@DirtBikingwithDonnie yep I switched out that linkage before I even rode it yesterday. This is my first dirt bike so I'm not sure how it's supposed to feel but it felt okay It did feel a little front diving but I'm used to Enduro mountain bikes and not such a soft suspension. I got the yz250F front springs on March 1st so I'm going to swap those in they are a little bit stiffer than the FX's but they are used a little bit so maybe that puts them somewhere between the FX and the f. I got five weight fork oil do you know how much I should put in each stanchion tube.
@DirtBikingwithDonnie
@DirtBikingwithDonnie 5 ай бұрын
@@ls1chevy2 I put 295 ml in my outer fork tubes. There's a range you can use to customize the feel. Check out this video and download the full service manual for the bike. I also uploaded the service manual in the files sections of the YZ250FX Owners group on Facebook. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oX68ipV7fN1gY6ssi=wpFWZlF_nVmh4O23

Donnie, did you inspect the old bearings? How did the look? Had you noticed any slop or poor performance leading up this?
@DirtBikingwithDonnie
@DirtBikingwithDonnie Жыл бұрын
I’ve seen much worse. There was some wear on the bushings but no visible slop yet. I’m getting this bike ready to sell and it’s seen its share of wet, muddy conditions so I don’t want to pass along any potential problems.
