The ambassador of "shock rock", Alice Cooper is in Studio Q to talk about his recent induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the differences between "Vincent Damon Furnier" (Cooper's real name) and his on stage persona, and the new breed of pop stars like Lady Gaga.

I have been a fan of Alice Cooper since I was a senior in High School in 1969 when he was just starting to get noticed....He has never gotten the recognition he deserves as a song writer, and singer....His raspy sexy voice and the fact that his songs really do tell a story if people will just take the time to really listen...His ballads are warm and wonderful such as You and Me...I'll Never Cry...How You Gonna See Me Now...Only Women Bleed and I Am Made Of You....Cooper will always reign as the BEST at my house....

Alice Cooper is a great guy, I love his sense of humor, and general outlook on things. I especially lovd it when he mentions old hollywood, like Groucho Marx, Mae West, and the big names from yesteryear. There is one thing that bothers me however. That is, the original members of the band never get talked about. IMO, they had as much to do with the creation of "Alice" as anybody. They created the music, set design, and general craziness as much as Vince did, and they get no credit for it! Long Live the original Alice Cooper group

Welcome to my nightmare and Alice Cooper goes to hell are 2 of my favourite albums of all time. Been listening to this guy since I was 11. I'm 52 now. Going to see him for the first time in October, can't wait! In them days you had a lot of great bands around. I reckon the 60s and 70s were the greatest era for rock music. It will never ever be matched again. The Doors, Sabbath, Led Zep etc are still relevant today

I don't have any Rolling Stones's music, only one Beatle's Album, and No Elvis Music BUT I have at least 10 or more Alice Cooper Albums and I'm now 78 years old and I still listen to his music and enjoy it as much as I did when I was in my 20's! I am in No Way putting down the other Rock bands that I mentioned because I also consider them Great But Alice is one of my all times favorites and always will be!

I love watching the guest's facial reactions as Jian is spilling out all their accomplishments in the most praising fashion I've ever seen. Been a fan for 4 decades, but the Alice Cooper Band years are by far the best (Alice Cooper was the name of the Band, not the singer!), excepting the Pretties for You and Schools Out albums. Nightmare was good, which is when he legally absconded with the Alice Cooper moniker. Everything written afterwards tends to be kiddy rock, talking down to a very young and naive audience. The early years were not like that. Smart guy tho', most definitely.

As a young amateur boxer in Florida, and then as semi pro (I wasn’t great) in Arizona, I sometimes met some great people on this planet. Greatest of em, where 2 (any order ).The late Champion Alexis Arguello, and then Alice Cooper. Real Gentlemen, and where also the coolest people. Then understood real class is true greatness. It’s more than regular celebrity too.Twice in 52 yrs on earth so far. Briefly in that presence... Funny how the classiest people are so, not classist. I believe tact is the big difference. Nor cal now home. Coolest people on avg, anywhere I have been.

I'm pretty sure I get what he means when he says he still performs because it's what he likes to do! I'm the same way. My band broke up in `05 and, to this day, I still REALLY miss being in stage, playing for the people that came to see/hear us and playing all those great songs we wrote over the 25 years I was with them!! It has NOTHING to do with the money (because there rarely ever was any) or ego. Sure, I would've LOVED getting loads of cash but I never did! Most shows, I was lucky to get a free pitcher of 7 Up to drink while on stage! If I went home with an extra $20 in my pocket, we did good!! Most nights I got nothing (but the 7 Up)! Some nights, I'd get a fiver! One night, the band decided to take our tiny pay in a 6-pack of beer!! I don't drink!! So, I took a bottle home for dad!! Bottom line: I REALLY miss being on stage and playing for the fans!!

His comments about the transitory nature of stardom were the same in the 50's,60's and 70's - most artists had one or two hit records and disappeared, fake bands made up of session musicians like The Archies and Edison Lighthouse were common and one hit wonders the norm. Its just that the music 'business' is more blatantly disposable now than it was in the past.

As someone "who was there", it's a bit difficult watching him place his Shock Rock persona at the center of his appeal. The horror stuff was a hoot, but if you compare Generation Landslide to Unfinished Sweet, you can see it became a crutch. It would be nice of him to someday acknowledge the serious musicianship and writing contributions of the original band, as well as focusing on the finer aspects of his own songwriting. At their best, they were a rocket fueled NY Dolls, not Elvira.

After 7 platinum albums and veritable creation of the light-show & stage performance theatrics, FINALLY he has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame . . . he can finally see acceptance after 45 years of being a legend. A brilliant man with a dark humour that entertained, enlightened, & a virtual Buddha of having lived through, contributed to the industry. Nowadays music? I think even Alice Cooper finds a gap in reasoning in that people can be deluded into wallowing in mediocrity.

It's really too bad Jian messed up such a good thing. To be able to sit across from celebrities such as Alice Cooper is definitely priceless & he was good @ it. I'm sure once word got out about his dirty laundry & his firing, perhaps many of the people he interviewed were perplexed but, one person he interviewed who he got under his skin perhaps loathed Jian & was rapturous with his demise. By the way I've read & viewed nothing but wonderful things about Alice Cooper. I've been a fan since I was 15 over 5 decades ago.& loved his music to death. Him & Glen Campbell(rip) were great friends who often played the links together & are both recovering alcoholics. From outwardly appearances they were both very different but inside they were both music artists fighting the same demons.

I disagree, he often cites the songs and the songwriting as the thing that put him and the original band at the forefront, while at the same time saying that the theatrics and the gore were just the icing on the cake. Point being you have to have quality songs before you worry about the rest. Theartrics without substance to back it up wouldn't have got him far and he knows it.
