So True. Also if you watch them back to back you realize that Rocky Horror and Shock Treatment are 2 sides of the same coin. Kind of a Yin and Yang situation. Frank N Furter and his crew kinda represents the unknown, Hedonism, Deviancy and Madness, pulling Brad and Janet into the darkness, while Farley Flavors and The rest of Denton kinda represent Stability, Normalcy, Sanity and like this kinda Conservative Ideal, but much like the TV Studio the entire movie takes place in (a clever solution to getting around a strike that was coming up) this perceived perfection is all artificial and is merely a facade hiding, corruption, Commercialism, Greed and Even some Deviancy and Madness. It’s quite Fascinating.

@@willku9000 that's actually an impressive observation, almost like the worst of both worlds. Rocky horror shows the nightmare it is to Brad and Janet being shown this world so different from what they're used to, but on the other hand, shock treatment is exactly what they should be used to but it turns into it's own nightmare of it's own.

If you want to know the exact details, the film was supposed to take place in realistic locations across the USA. Unfortunately, though, a 1979 SAG strike froze the production funds. Richard O'Brien proposed filming the entire movie in a television studio as a means of trimming the budget and thus saving the movie.

This movie gets disproportionately slammed because it's not RHPS. The bad side of cult-fandom is that they tend to be hyper and unfairly critical of divergent followups... If it's not full of fan-service and a direct continuation of the original, then it's bad. Just look at the number of people who stubbornly refuse to call these characters Brad and Janet. Just see it more like an elseworlds/alternate timeline to a comic book story. This is the Ultimates Universe so to speak. :P Fortunately time has been very kind to Shock Treatment, and it's finally get more of the appreciation it always deserved.

@icantbelieveitsnotnews28289 жыл бұрын
lol, yes that looks is amazing, as is the Janet's toothpaste look. Jeez, this movie is so bizarre who knows where they got their ideas. Brad is the one that is supposedly losing touch with reality so he gives an all around goofy performance. He's standing up perfectly straight and is so stiff when he says trash can, lol. I see something of a look of disgust in him. When Janet sings toothpaste, it is a similar disgust and confusion, but she's on the offensive and he's on the defensive.

With only a small window when cast and crew were available, the filmmakers had to get creative. Television had been a heavy motif in the script, so production designer Brian Thomson came up with the notion to rework the story and set it in a giant TV studio, utilizing a film studio in England,[9] which shaved $1 million from the budget and gave them the luxury of working in a controlled environment. The script endured a final draft in which all of the locations were changed to television shows, and the role of Dr. Scott morphed into game show host Bert Schnick. "I was frightened the strike was going to finish too soon and we'd have to go back to our original conception," commented O'Brien.
